FANTASTIC SEA VIEWS at WHITBY HOLIDAY PARK | Saltwick Bay Yorkshire | Vlog 423

As part of our Yorkshire tour in October 2021, we stayed at the Whitby Holiday Park and were allocated a camping pitch right on the edge of the cliffs at Saltwick Bay, Whitby in Yorkshire. This is one of the best pitches we had all season, with amazing clifftop views. The Holiday Park has lots of facilities for campers and is certainly a good choice for all the family.

Yes it’s a big site and lots of slopes. Not particularly wheelchair friendly Mark. Wouldn’t recommend this one for you guys unless you park near the facilities on a handstand 🙂👍🏻 Trev

Absolute excellent Video & review, Saltwick Bay is very dear to my heart. Watching this brought back happy memories & tears of joy. The Family have had many happy holidays here together with having our own Caravans too in the late 1960's, to this day the site still holds that special aura it has always had. Well done! It’s unique in terms of its position and although it’s site fees are a bit higher, we felt it was worth it. The Clifftop walks were spectacular and Whitby is in easy reach 😃🚐 Trev

We are both well but our eldest son Chris is not. He has been suffering with anxiety stress and depression. So we are grounded and the IH is having a rest. Chris is a Carpenter/Builder so I am working with him to get him back on track. So it’s father and son quality time that I couldn’t give him when I was working all ours as an AA patrol. Yes, pricey when the site is not fully open. It’s not for me to defend their pricing but we felt for 2 nights and having a pitch right on the cliff with access to the Cleveland Way, walking distance to Whitby and excellent facilities, this was worth it. I certainly wouldn’t want to pay that rate off season for an entire week or more, even with a caravan. We always think about the memories we have paid for, which again we feel was worth it 😃🚐 Trev

Our second night was windy and wet. The rain was very loud on the SIDE of the van, so you could tell the wind was strong. It is possible to pitch on the hardstands near reception in severe weather but there is limited space there. 😃🚐 Trev

I would expect this site to be attractive to families during school holidays, however when we were there it was mainly couples. There is lots of space on the field but don’t go there if you need an awning up 😃 Thanks for watching 👍🏻🚐 Trev

Is there ever an issue of needing protection from rising water at the same time as the winds? How do they deal with that?

It’s not such a problem here but in some of the lower coastal villages there is a need to close flood gates and use sandbags to stop tidal surges. We don’t get hurricanes or tornadoes like the southern coast of the US but we get Atlantic storms that can be frequent and quite powerful at times. 😃🚐 Trev
