That was a good one Tom. DTC led you right to it. Thanks for taking us through the diagnostic and repair!

I haven't seen that code even once.... today that is . Last week wooo. You know that on the vcds you can list a bunch of measuring blocks at once on one screen right? Overall I think it would help you move through some cars even faster. You are making great content brother, keep it up !

Hey I just got a p0191 code for my fsi 2.0t. It's the fuel rail pressure sensor circuit performance/ range. Should I check my sensor and the wiring first like you did ?

Question: I have the same issue, and code on a 2013 VW GTI. So, does Circuit A always indicate that it being a broken signal wire on the 6-pin? I have the fuel-rail sensor plugged in but the high-pressure fuel pump connector unplugged right now so my car can at least run, but I am not making any power with the high-pressure fuel pump disconnected. Please, let me know so I can get this issue fixed.

4:05 Is that a VW factory schematic or is that a redrawn schematic? The schematic doesn't tell you which circuits have bias voltage. I know GM factory schematics do.
@chekelley68617 жыл бұрын
Good stuff! So was that a bias voltage or just a pull down design signal wire where the pcm sends out a 5 volt ref through a resistor and the sensor varies it to ground?
@srdporter7 жыл бұрын
I was having the exact same thought! Not sure you can have a 5volt bias for circuit monitoring when the normal signal voltage is below 5V. My feeling is that the computer is sending 5V which is being pulled to ground as you've stated. Amounts to the same thing when trouble shooting however. Great vid as usual Tom.

Just curious- would you prefer to fix this with a butt-connector or solder, and the heat-shrink with glue in it? I've always trusted soldering and heat-shrinking myself.

hello sir,i have un issue whit my car that nobody can tell me what means,hopefully maybe you can tell me something about it: so,i have a passat 2002 whit 1.6 liter engine (ALZ code) and i cannot pass the emissions test because of my high CO,everything is good HC are below 70,nox are in range.On my scan tool ALWAYS but ALWAYS LONGTERMFUELTRIMS are negative 10 at idling and STFT are between -2 and 5 sometimes.If i rev the car up then LTFT goes to 0,never positive values.Both of the sensors bank1 are reacting almost the same between 2000 rpm and 3000 rpm,at idle the upstream sensor react between 2mv and 9 mv,so it is a waveform on the scanner,the downstream sensor stays under 400-450 mv.At idle car pass the emissions test whit a value of CO under 16(max for my engine is 30,not percent),but soon it rev up and goes to 2500-2600 rpm everything it is going crazy.I am not suspect the catalitic converter because if this is the issue then at idle the CO would not pass the test,so my question is where this fuel that have to be always corrected comes from??i have replace the coolant temp sensor,change the air filter and spark plugs,but nothing happens whit long term fuel trims.Car acting perfectly on the road,no problems on startup or in fullpower.Could be to much pressure from the fuel pump that needs to be taken away?if LTFT are alway negative could be the mass airflow sensor defective?airfuelratio is way way below stoechiometric range of 1/14.7,is arround 1/10.Car does have a good mileage.On the tailpipe,if i touch whit my finger there is black ashes,but in revs it didnt see black smoke at all.No trouble codes on the scanner,still cant pass emissions test.Thank you,i hope you give me some ideas,or if you need more data i will be happy to tell you everything what my scantool can read,i am sure that if LTFT are closed to zero,then my catalitic converter could keep up to pass emissions in any revs is tested.One more thing,i can not hold steady rpms,if i try to stay o 2500 or goes up or down and need to be corrected from the gas pedal,but cant stay fixed on any revs

I don't believe in bias voltage. You should ohm the circuit 😉 Great video Tommy. Thx 👍

Yep my thoughts as well, resistance test it. Unplugging that sensor isn't too hard with a pick and a flat blade then move it to the left and you got access to the pins and that broken part. Im dealing with p0191 code right now. Found my intank pump was dropping to 3bar replaced that and now solid 5bar and above on load. Which is correct. High side pressure is bang on with the specified pressure. But still the code for g247 implausible signal was popping up when car is really hot, ie sat on layby after burn and then drove off hard and it would go into limp mode cutting off power throttle and fuel and then back to life. Have removed ecu and tested between pins and that g247 sensor all good 0.4ohms or less. I've ordered a new sensor as my last option.

So this means open between sensor signal and ecu?What if one makes continuity test between sensor and ecu pin is it the same?So if the wire was SHORTED the scanner must show 0 psi pressure?

Again expert mode! How many technicians at home not at a shop have a $10,000 scan tool? This guy went to automotive school and knows his stuff but he just doesn't keep it simple like scanner danner. Always going high tech with diagnostic work, I'm jumping ship on this channel! Enjoy everyone.

for the record I used obd 2 after expert mode, I also told you before you will see expert mode on this channel, I also bought this scantool, it does not belong to the shop, its mine and your telling me I cant use it on my channel, lol, this one was actually kept very simple, how many techs out there have vcds and can learn from me when I use expert mode? maybe you should ask that question.

Yes Sandy, I know he can fix the vehicle with a $20 or even without a scan tool, the whole point I say is lets show how to fix the vehicle with a $20 or even $1000 scan tool but just keep it simple the way every one else works on vehicle not global or high tech!
