Amazing! Just found out Positron LT. I hope I can build it someday.. Subscribed!

Aaaah, yes, can relate to that, spoolholder is unnecessary, and true chads don't need them at all. My spools are always on some kind of... questionable solutions that where improvised in less than 5 minutes. On the other hand, I guess keeping all attention on the printer upgrades while totaly neglecting spoolholders may be the 3d printer owners analog of the "leg day skip"))

You could design a collapsible spool holder

what cad software you used to make fully cad 3d model of positron? because it tried to open that in solidworks 2024 version but it's just loading and loading and i opened the same file on autodesk online 3d model viewer and it opened just fine?
@3DPrince-zd1se7 ай бұрын
I used solidworks 23 and it worked fine When it loads for the first time you need to right-click the assembly in the feature tree and click “break links”

@@3DPrince-zd1se i also noticed the print quality, how’s that coming along?
@3DPrince-zd1se Жыл бұрын
@@baby_efa If you follow other #speedboatrace entries, you'll see that stretching print times to the limit doesn't often yield great quality. My submission represents the max that I can get my printer to print a recognizable benchy. If you knock the speeds and accel down a bit you get really good quality. See our discord for images.

How long for a “quality” Benchy? I’m guessing that the extruder is the speed bottleneck here and not the motion system? Is it running klipper?
@valeriyproklov2868 Жыл бұрын
It looks great by the way. Happy to see someone still pursuing this style of printer.
@nemorianderson Жыл бұрын
Yes, position is running on klipper firmware. Also not sure that extruder is bottleneck here, the position is using a custom 90° extruder that is a bit higher flow rate than volcano. So probably its more about cooling rates than flow limit
@3DPrince-zd1se Жыл бұрын
The bottleneck is actually the cooling! The flow rate is high, and the extruder keeps up pretty well. I needed external cooling for this fast print, as you can see in the description.

I noticed that the original Positron's print bed is heated with whereas the Positron LT is not. I'm guessing this was an intentional design choice for the LT to cut down on cost?
@3DPrince-zd1se Жыл бұрын
Both beds are heated:) ours uses an ITO conductive coating. I believe this is a new technology first suggested by Kralyn and first developed by Harry Loud. You can see the product at muon3d.com/products/positron-v3-transparent-heated-bed
