Enjoyed Malignant especially towards the end, I was like oh so it's that kind of movie. Old was just boring. M Night is a hack legend. Good idea but poorly executed with horrible dialogue. H Kills had decent kills but it was just a mess. Candyman? Its shot well especially the critic's death but I didn't care for the characters and it wasn't scary. They focused too much on social commentary that they forgot to make a horror movie. The original had that but it was subtle. You cared about Helen and it had a creepy atmosphere.

Come True had me absolutely mesmerized right up to the very end, which felt like a cheap kick in the junk. How can a film introduce such a cool concept as the shadow people ...then go absolutely nowhere with the shadow people? The scariest scene in Last Night in Soho was the one which, in reality, would be interpreted as a black man (wrongfully perceived to be) committing SA against a white woman. She's screaming, "No! Get off! You're killing her!" while they are having sex. I was so worried he would be killed or arrested, bc that is what would happen in that situation. Instead, the film frames this as no one having any awareness of this perception of the event or possible outcome. We are supposed to sympathize with the woman for seeing a spoopy ghost, and the man just shrugs that ordeal off and says the next day, "sorry if I did something to upset you."

In my opinion they tried to tap into nostalgia too much but honestly it would have worked if they just simplified the story and had better writing. It was a huge bummer.

The second one is the better one of them all. It still tap mostly into nostalgia, especially if you're a fan of Friday the 13th and similar movies, but it's a pretty decent movie. The acting is better then part 1, the story is more interesting and I personally think Sadie Sink is a much better lead actress than Kiana Madeira. Part 3 is not unwatchable, but to me it's the worst of the 3. If you like movies like The Witch, you might enjoy it, but I didn't liked and wouldn't recommend it. The acting is not that good, story is very confusing and don't get me started on the horrible fake 17th century accents.

I enjoyed Malignant because of how campy it was. It had serious themes at the very beginning, and then everything melted away and it was pure, silly joy. Perfect, I need more campy horror films and games right now

Just watched "the novice" and absolutely loved it. Such an intense amazing film..thanks for the recommendation!

I was on board with you with the worst movies of the year. As you moved into the middle and top movies of the year I feel like you are way too forgiving of poor quality movies like Old, Conjuring 3, Paranormal Activity etc. Def not a reviewer who is my cup of tea.

Love this kind of "End of the year"- ranking type of thing! so many movies on your list I've yet to watch and enjoy! Hope this becomes a yearly thing on your channel!

Last night on soho was such a shock to me at how amazing it was. I was drawn in to the story immediately and was totally invested the entire time. Definitely in my top five of this year if not of all time

The Night House was my favorite film by far this year! It was the first movie in 5 years to genuinely terrify my at points. I could actually feel my heart racing and I found myself holding my breath. I love this movie and agree with you 100%

I've disagreed with your placed movie 🎥 old, to me I'm not watching that again, 1/5 I agree with the place for Halloween kills it's 4.5 /5

I love your honest opinions, it’s really enjoyable to watch someone who doesn’t go with the mainstream all the time :) I honestly haven’t watched a lot of horror movies that came out in 2021, but I personally liked the fear street trilogy

Im in the minority of those who love Halloween Kills with u. Dont know why people hate it. The 1st part was already shockingly good which back then made me wonder how they were gonna top it. Bringing minor characters from the original together is goddamn one of the most ambitious but still sensical idea! I cant wait for next year. This time i have absolutely no idea how they r gonna top this in the last of the trilogy. And i love how Halloween Kills give the protagonists lots of control of the narratives instead of giving all the spotlight to Michael!

I completely agree with you on quite a few movies, but also disagree wholeheartedly on others! I truly appreciate your reviews, though! Our tastes are shaped by personal experiences so different opinions are fun to listen to.

Terrible. Script sounded like it was written by an 8 year old. Nothing scary at all. Perhaps the worst ending of a movie I've ever seen. Felt like I got scammed out of my time and money.

@@radzzy1563 I thought it was awesome but I’m a sucker for senseless slashers
@radzzy15632 жыл бұрын
@@ripvanishh4723 Yeah I mean I like slashers too. I thought the gore and kills were pretty good but that was about it. Script was awful. I spent most of the movie cringing every time someone opened their mouth and started to talk. There was no story. Jamie Lee Curtis is in it for maybe 90 seconds total. I thought the acting of the towns people was awful. That car scene where the girl shoots the gun like 8 times in a row might be one of the worst scenes I've ever seen🤣 if the ending wasn't so retarded I wouldn't have cared about the other stuff as much but when I saw the ending and how ridiculously stupid it was it just set me off 🤣🤣
@WoahLookAtThatFreak Жыл бұрын
@@ripvanishh4723 Senseless slashers can be fun, but I felt none of that with this movie lol. I thought it was pretty dull, repetitive and nonsensical. The angry mob theme was also a bit absurd and the whole movie felt more depressing than anything. Not really what I want in a Halloween movie. Haha.

Since you loved Saint Maud (I did as well) I wonder what you would think of Paul Verhoeven's latest "Benedetta!" (Not horror, but still...crazy!) Love you giving some love to Oxygen, it's probably the best movie on Netflix -- so much tension and a few incredible twists! Last Night In Soho, Nightmare Alley and The Night House definitely deserve your placements! Great video!
