I like the twist to this story. Most assassin stories are about them leaving the business to start a normal family. This one flips that by killing their family to embrace their assassin role to the full.

The olfactory glands (sense of smell) is the most direct sense and most physiologically linked to memory. The scene in the beginning, with Vos sniffing her son shows that she's trying to remember who he is to her, like she only has an intellectual knowledge of him but not full memory.

It's toxoplasmosis , it's from old cat feces so a regularly changed litterbox wouldn't have it. The parasite makes rats and mice not afraid of cats so the get eaten and complete the cycle from them into the cat. Of course humans get infected al the time, not from litterboxes but from kids playing outside in the dirt but the human body gets rid of it though if you get infected while pregnant that can cause trouble so that's why you can't clean the litterbox while you are pregnant. Though most people woud already be immune. There is some speculation that it does have an effect on people though in their behaviour.

Saw Possessor Uncut in the theater, then the R-rated version. Both are excellent, with the former being more brutal and sexual, but both capturing the essence of data mining, manipulation and other themes that continue to resonate and will age well. It is worth mentioning that the production design and the practical VFX are off the chain.

I thought it was interesting that one of the lines Vos practices outside before going into Michaels house is “what have you got there?” like she’s asking her son what he’s holding, but when he answers the door he’s not holding anything and she never says it. But later in the movie after Colin tracks down Michaels house and sees the kid outside with a map, he walks up and says “What have you got there?” in a similar way that Vos was practicing earlier

Vos can't ever shoot herself when she's possessing someone else, because she feels that she's herself when she's possessing someone else. She can't ever bring herself to kill herself. That's why she always seems so uncomfortable when she's in her own body, because that's not the "real her."
@lauranceberiya1314
@lauranceberiya1314 8 ай бұрын
It might be taken this way but the movie keeps her inner process sort of vague: was she rehearshing before meeting the family because she is not herself with them or was it her plan all along to have the fictional recent memories of loving her ex and son in case the victim takes control? Was it her unable to pull the trigger or the victim's will power stopping her finger in both cases? When she is in drug dealer's body it often looks like she is toying with him at least as much as she is unable to regain control, as if she wants him to do the dirty job of eliminating her family without risking her mental health by keeping direct control over him all the time
@enrique.cardenas
@enrique.cardenas 8 ай бұрын
@@lauranceberiya1314 Good point, It can definitely be interpreted that way. Still, to some of your points: Is it true that her inner process can really be described as vague, especially since we have so many symbolic moments during her possession of Colin (ex. the scene where Colin dons the “mask” of Vos’s face)? As for the inability to pull the trigger, there are other possessors, seen in the first scene in the movie; certainly they aren’t all having trouble killing the possessed body. I don’t think Vos coincidentally received two “strong” victims to possess in a row, at least for the purposes of the film. This doesn’t provide any rhyme or reason thematically aside from advancing the plot. It’s an explanation of Vos’s character. I do agree with your last statement, though, but this explains my point: Vos is strong enough to allow the victim into the position of opportunity to murder her husband. She’s stronger when possessing (except when it comes to self inflicted harm).

ok, so why not just do actions that would get her killed? in the first scene, her actions made her get killed by the cops. why not just do that for every target? really dumb imo. i would possess my target and go right to the police station, fully armed, to seal the deal

The "becoming a cold-blooded killer" isn't the goal, she already is that as you stated. The goal is to perfect her to become the replacement. Part of that is slashing all ties to her outside life and ridding her of what little conscience she has left. Like a rough cut diamond. For people who might be interested, the brain worm catlitter part of it is actually talking about Toxoplasma gondii. Its theorized that most if not all owners of cats have a subclinical infection of Toxoplasmosis, and it subtly affects their actions--most notably making cat scents more pleasant to cat owners, although the extent that it affects the human host is unknown. It has the interesting effect of making mice that are infected less scared of cat scents which makes them easier prey; as cats were domesticated it had the same effect on humans.

Brandon Cronenberg definitely has the same style as his father to the point where if you didn’t know any better you’d think this film was directed by David Cronenberg himself. With that being said this movie stayed with me for a good while. The last movie that left the same type of impact on me was Hereditary and for those who’ve seen that movie know how dark, creepy, and sinister it was. Possessor wasn’t as sinister feeling as Hereditary but it definitely was creepy in that Cronenberg way. I don’t know what it is about body horror but damn do those visuals leave a lasting impression. I’m really glade you broke down this movie because there are several details you miss upon first viewing. As usual this has been a great video and I always look forward to seeing the next one. The cat litter line is referring to toxoplasma gondii, a parasite that humans can get from cat poop, there are some light connections between it and slight behavioral change in humans (although still debated to what extent or if it has any effect at all).

It’d be awesome to see your opinions on “YellowBrickRoad” (2011) in which a group of investigators revisit an event in which the inhabitants of a town all dress up nice and all wander into the woods. It’s a super hidden gem and probably the closest we can get to a “House of Leaves” movie without it losing the original image and themes. It’s very interesting watch and it’s always bothered me I’ve never met anyone who’s watched it

Negative endings are become more and more popular with hollywood these days, or at least non positive endings, if u look back at almost every movie before 2000 ull see the main character always gets the girl, the job, the treasure, money, some huge boost to his life and happiness, ive study human psychology and the thing is the reason the guy always gets the girl, money, or big boost to his life is it makes a character more real, it makes people see themselves as that person finally obtaining the things theyve longed for in life, it makes people ultimately like the character and movie more, now every now and then a negative ending or a non happy ending even if they dont get what they want is good, but recently it just seems thats how every movie ends and it just shows thats how bleek the world is today, no happy endings even in the fictional worlds u go to to forget about life and all lifes problems.... and feel thats a really bad thing. This movie personally for me made me feel nothing, i didnt connect with any of the characters except the guy and then he dies, i didnt really like the woman and in the end "evil" won. Its not good escapism for people to constantly see bad endings in movies really shows how the world has taken a negative turn, where before in politics in the real world if someone dissagreed with u, u would simply try to change their mind or move on, now adays the world is so upside down u have people killing each other in the streets because of who they wanted to vote for, u have people calling peoples work place and getting them fired over that, its insaine how negative the world has turned and how little family values the world shows now, im not blaming it on negative ending movies but u have to realize if u go from watching happy endings thinking things are good, to constantly seeing negative endings and "evil or bad" winning in the end, thats not good for society as a whole just maybe one reason why the fuse is so short nowadays

I've been waiting for your review! This movie is SO FREAKING GOOD! My theory is that she is being posessed by someone else the whole movie and that's why she's having pains in her hands and other strange behavior. That explains why she kills her child with no remore because it isn't her Vos! It doesn't tell us but someone is inhabiting Vos- that's my theory
