The reason the village has so many children is that in the rural area, people often has no recreational activity. No TV, no phone, so they tend to turn to the good ol sex as a mean to pass time, and no one's selling rubber on an isolated village. That's why people in the rural area have so many children, back in the days it's normal to have more than 5 children.

I do agree there could’ve been more time spent on her mourning her friend but I cut maya some slack because she was being hunted by the villagers at the time. She knew how dangerous they were and I get her instinct to leave ASAP. Then a lot of stuff happened and she was hit with a ton of info about her past so yeah I think she had to compartmentalize. I took her screaming in the truck as part relief and survivor’s guilt. While I’m fine with the ending I kind of wish it had been replaced or put after a scene with maya scattering ashes of clothes her friend wore in the sea. It would’ve been a callback to their earlier conversation, and showed maya mourning her best friend. Then the evil ghost grandma could’ve been after that!

A little fact, there's a scene where there is a ghost children in the distance. The director opens up in Raditya Dika's YT channel that the children wasn't supposed to show during that scene, and even several retakes after the children were still there. FYI, the real children actors were right behind the scene with the crew - waiting for their cue. In the end, the director decides to use the 'ghost children' scene anyways for spooky reasons. P.S: As Indonesian myself, i'm happy and grateful to see you review this movie ^^ Rootin' for ya, FoundFlix!

Great movie!! I was pleasantly surprised. I have to correct 1 small thing. The driver of the bike was the cop and the dude in the back that was shot was the horse cart driver from earlier in the movie. Remember he gave her his business earlier in the movie. The cop that shot him happened to live in the village.

I guess I'll put it here. I have been enjoying your contens for a while now, really appreciate of all the analysis and "walkthrough" of the plot, I'm not a big fan of horror movie, so they saved me a lot of time. Thank you, and please keep on the good work.

(1) I thought that the Mother became a vengeful spirit on her own at the end. It being a punishment for her black magic is also a viable concept but, hmmm, I dunno... (2) If I'm not mistaken, the couple at the end is also a couple who had to have their newborn drowned at the beginning. Hmmm, it sure came full circle, huh! #MASTERPIECE #Impetigore #Indonesia

What a MASTERPIECE! It all makes sense when u learn that it's from the (South Korean) studio that gave us "The Wailing" MASTERPIECE! I continue to revel in the authenticity of foreign (non-Hollywood) films, especially, Asian ones! It's always pleasing to the soul to see a movie centered around a culture, language & people that's not what one is familiar with but this pleasure is further heightened when there are elements of strong realism e.g. in the scene where the guy is killing the 3 little kidnapped village girls by snapping their necks one by one, I loved how he struggled a bit with the last 2 to get a good grip, even though they were unresisting. Usually, u don't think about the small, trivial details like that cuz it's so easy for a grown man to snap a little girl's neck, but he first has to get a good grip and angle it just right to make that swift, clean break. This movie is a frikkin masterpiece and there are many such authentic, thoughtful, attention-to-small-details scenes that impact u throughout, but this one really got me by the soul, man! It just felt so... I dunno how to verbalize it... it just felt so right & real... And not that I'm glorifying the death of the little girls, either; I'm just glorifying how amazing it was for human beings to replicate it so perfectly on a movie screen! #MASTERPIECE #IMPETIGORE #Indonesia

Im tellin' ya, South east asian horror is extremely effective and on a very different scale to christians ones. Whether it'd be thai, indo or malay and what not. Our scares strike much closer to home and There are still these folk shamans that you can get service from. Mileage may wary but these notions are much more real and close to peeps in SEA, or asia in general.

Malay ? Just stop lying there..we never heard anything bout Malay Movie..esp their Horror movie. It's always Indonesian And Thai who pruduced great horror movies in the region.

@@borneocoolpad7833 may I reccomend Khurafat? Or just google for the Malay horror movies. There's the classic Jangan Pandang Belakang, Congkak, Puntianak Harum Sundal Malam. To be fair Malaysians have some pretty fair amount of horror movies, and they're pretty good too. Try and give one a try.
@iAsked9003 жыл бұрын
@@theketaminekid1241 pretty sure communication error *caused by language barrier or poor vocabulary. What that person might want to say is "Western movies" Unless OP really are thinking that all Western moves are "Christian movies" cuz in that case my reaction would be "the fuck?". Cuz that would be dumb generalization.
@freezysyahz3 жыл бұрын
@@iAsked900 Khurafat stands out in particular, because all throughout the movie is just a steadily growing sense of dread that eats away at you (me). Dukun meanwhile has a unique sense of thrill to it. And then there's the Noorkumalasari movie where the baby comes out of the mouth. We do too have a good array of horror movies.

Hey @FoundFlix, I recently watched the Netflix original "Beyond the Line", and I think that it deserves an in-depth explanation to an almost vague ending. Its not a thriller or horror movie like you usually showcase, but the way the movie unfolds I still think it deserves an "Ending Explained"
