Needed to add - that of all the times they could have received that threat, on descent was one of the most task saturated parts of the flight as it was. They barely had time to think about it but at least they were already on descent and knew they wouldn’t have to wait long to get in. What I also loved was that the ATC didn’t even question the crew, he just immediately gave them what they asked for and did what he needed to do without bothering them with questions that would take away their attention from flying. The only question was the necessary about fuel and souls, the rest of the comms were instructions. And the pilot on comms also didn’t waste time with his words. He clearly stated the problem along with their intentions in the same communication. This saved time and ensured the ATC gave them all his attention. No procrastinating. No back and forth. No having to repeat things multiple times. Precise, concise and quick. Perfect. Among everything we’ve been hearing on comms the last few months on videos like this, it was refreshing to hear such efficiency.

Although I would've liked ATC to do a read back after the bomb threat information. He just gave another heading and didn't acknowledge the info.

Context: There is someone or a group of people calling bomb threats to the airline and other Indian carriers. I believe the number is greater than ONE HUNDRED over the past week. It's a serious issue although nothing has been found. Likely someone trying to disrupt aviation for some reason. Quite amazing that nobody has been traced yet.

Surely Air India has a security department that checks and screens these threats? I’d would expect no communication from company for false threats, for obvious reasons. I would also be wary of messages passed directly from ATC, because they wouldn’t have been assessed and vetted.

For those who are wondering, Indian airlines are being targeted with fake bomb threats over the last 2 weeks. This incident happened around the same time 5 other Akasa flights received the same threat and diverted.

​@YouCanSeeATC it's situationally dependent and there is a decision logic table that the pilots, the airline, the airport and local and federal security and LE use to determine the nature of threat, likelihood of action, and safety of the pax and facilities. Its not always cut and dried either/or.

Part of the process for bomb threat is to decide if there is actually a credible threat. If there isn’t actually a threat then it’s business as usually for the aircraft. In fact, telling the pilots is unlikely unkess the threat was credible. Airlines will get many threats daily, most of which are false.

I saw this squawking - now I think they had multiple bomb threats against 5 aircraft because all within short succession, another 4 squawked emergency and started descending. The aircraft who all squawked 7700 belonged to Air India, IndiGo and Akasa Air. Air India flight AIC101, IndiGo flight IGO381 and Akasa Air flight numbers AKJ1503, AKJ161K and AKJ160H.

Sounds like they originally gave fuel in Kg then converted to lbs, when someone on the ground could of done the conversion for them.

In 2024 there really shouldn't be any need for such unit conversions and it may just add to an already fraught situation. Sadly this is what happens when certain nations refuse to use the metric system like virtually everyone else on the planet.

Not a bomb on board, but the company received a bomb THREAT online. For context: Indian aviation has been hit by a huge number of bomb hoaxes (like 100s of them every week) by possibly an organised group of people . Amazingly security forces have got zip on the criminals.
