@@UrbanVanlife the WAW is amazing and hard to beat, but there are some lovely towns and villages just of the beaten track and a little more inland worth exploring, Galway is not a very motorhome friendly spot, fantastic city with so much going on but unless your in a campsite it’s next to impossible to get a spot nearby the city itself. Pubs with larger car parks are becoming more open to overnight parking if you spend a few euro with them, and a lot are getting more dog friendly too which is great. You won’t be stuck for places to visit and be amazed by in Ireland, we are small in size but make up for it in beauty. Look out for Cobh, Cahir, Graiguenamanagh, Blarney, Doolin, the list is really endless. Dublin is of course the capital so comes with the pros and cons of a big city. a few campervan spots not far from the city centre with good public transportation links into the heart of it, Sandymount, Clontarf are two along the bay, they have height barriers but they tend to be open in summer, Howth is a beautiful harbour town and is campervan friendly if you are lucky to get a spot, Johnny Foxes pub in the Dublin/Wicklow mountains is a tourist attraction but have an overflow car park that I believe they will allow overnight parking if you spend the few bob with them (be warned it’s not cheap cheap) Avoid eating and drinking in Temple Bar, it’s extortionately expensive and there’s far nicer spots not far from the city centre. Ireland is a little behind the curve of van life but councils and business are quickly learning the benefits to opening up to us, be it aires or campsites or just facilities along the motorways.. no matter what you will enjoy your time here! Looking forward to the next episode.. belt up mind 😉

Ireland is full of very narrow roads. Many of these would have been 'famine roads'. Basically, roads that the Irish had to build in order to get food. The British government decided that they couldn't give the 'lazy Irish' food for nothing. So they had them build roads. Sadly, many of the officials supervising them were corrupt and sold the food instead resulting in 'Green mouth'. This was where the Irish, building the roads died beside the roads after trying to eat grass to stay alive. Just a bit of history.

New to the channel, enjoying your adventures here in Ireland, but yeah for me the seat belt wearing is an issue. We have many tight, winding roads and the next fatality is only around the next bend, and I wouldn’t like it to be anyone we know.. too many “external” risks on our roads these days, intoxicated or distracted driving, you are probably a great driver, it’s the others than you need to watch out for.. no one wants to leave Emma or the 4 fluffers in a terrible position.. be safe please

At least the cocktails were top notch!!! It was a shame too as my pizza looked the part but it wasn’t what it was described as on the menu and it wasn’t really eaten either, but you never know until you try, lasagne is one of those things that can dry out so easily if not cooked properly, but an authentic Italian recipe would definitely win out every time!!

20:30 "There are no signs saying not to park up" Wild camping is always not allowed unless specified in Ireland. Though so long as you don't cause a mess / nusence, most don't mind but be aware you can be moved on from basically anywhere at any time. Anything fenced is private property as are unpaved roads or even signed walking routes. Land owners give permission for their use, there is no right to roam. Respect peoples land and wishes and don't let dogs run loose even on the hills & mountains (The number of sheep killed by dogs chasing them is unreal.. Even if they don't actually bite they can kill sheep/cause miscarrage/panic and falls off cliffs / into water) Also, on the really narrow roads, don't park up in a passing spot/gateway/laneway.. And if doddling around looking at scenery (yes it's gorgous) let anyone that comes up behind you passed.. Locals have things to do and places to go and will really really appreciate it. If you are unsure about getting turned around on the narrow local roads, check out the route on maps sattelite / street view.. It's great for saving you from getting stuck somewhere thats a hassle to get turned around in. Ohh and this is the first I'm hearing of paying an entry fee to a town festival.. Total ripoff. Fortuneately most towns and villages have a festival over the summer with free entry. The weather this year in Donegal has been terribad. Showers nearly everyday and v little sun. Till this week that is (first week of spt, just in time for kids to be back at school)
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
All great points and suggestions you have made in this comment, not just for us but also for others. We always try our best to respect where we are parked we never leave a place without making sure it’s clean and there is no trace, even picking up after other people and their dogs at times (in the uk especially as it seems a small minority of people can’t look after their surroundings, we carry a litter picker in the back of the van for this reason). If someone was to ask us to move on we also respect that too as it’s not our land so we respect that people might not want people there, we usually ask if we can find someone to be fair as you usually find people will let you know what is accepted and what isn’t, but we do edit our videos down a lot so don’t show half of what we do in this regard, could be something for us to look at in future videos. Neil uses google maps satellite street view a lot for places already as you have said it’s great to actually see if places are properly accessible and whilst in Ireland there where places we didn’t feel we should go in such a big heavy van so it came in extremely handy to be able to check it out first, and as for the dogs we are very careful around live stock and also other areas where other dogs etc are, as I grew up around farms (Emma here) and am aware of the dangers for the live stock and that farmers will also not hesitate to deal with dogs according, we had one time where they wanted to chase sheep and went to but where on their leads and got put in the van before they where an arms length away from me! We are quite strict with their behaviour for such reasons.

Hello no it will just be a car so normal carpark would be ok
@UrbanVanlife3 ай бұрын
Aaah okay, there’s plenty of parking then, the main car parks (multi stories) Are expensive to park in there are a few that have a low fee for the day but they get busy from early, Kitchen Street, L1 0AN think it’s £6 for the whole day, and another on Kent street similar and has a guard too and there’s another one of Islington road around the same price, other than that there’s plenty of side street parking to try but it gets busy and the traffic wardens are out in force, there’s also car parks of Cumberland street which is close to the matthew street bars ( revolver is dog friendly, can sit outside and have a drink with your dog in the day time) etc but it’s best to download the app for those, national car parks I think, also as a side note check the parking times as the council have tried to lengthen the charging times to 11 pm
