First visited Possil Park area in 1993. Can't remember the name of the pub I went in but what I do remember was that as an Englishman, I was treated as a bit of a celebrity! Very friendly people, always buying me a pint and some very good sing-alongs! I was married to a Maryhill lass, so we'd often do a pub crawl around the Hill and down into Possil Park. I think Possil was the same as Maryhill, very community orientated. Everyone knew everyone else. People looked out for the elderly. The tenement we lived in was a dump but we made it a palace inside. All long gone now. Communities uprooted and disbursed, new builds in place, gentry move in. No council or government has ever understood the word 'community'.

Worked with Harry in the corpy. Cracking guy. Sorry to hear he's not with us any more. His brother was Andy if I remember right. The Brothers was one of our Friday afternoon boozers back in the day.
