Lawyer cat... this could actually be a cool extra role. A cat whose sole job is to learn all of the code and teach others about it. One of their jobs could be settling debates, much like a mediator, but only for cats acused of breaking the code. Otherwise they would have the normal warrior duties. Maybe a good name for the role would be a "Code Keeper" or something along those lines.

I think MistClan has to be my favorite so far. Their color palette, poses, designs, lore, their outlook on StarClan and their beliefs, their traditions... it's all executed so well, and it looks amazing in your art style. Wonderful job, PB :)

They meowed gently, eyes level as they regained themself. Applethroat's eyes widened. "Er- really? Of- of course! Of course, Lavenderstar! I would love to." he meowed, utterly surprised. "That's good. Then, when the sun rises you will rise, too, from the vernal pools with your new stage. Hm?" Ravenface leaned closer to Hawkblaze, "New stage of dumbassery." she meowed, with a twinge of amusement. Hawkblaze snorted- around as loud enough for the entire clan to hear, and she couldn't contain her laughter. She chuckled for a teeny bit, and Applethroat glared back at them while Lavenderstar looked down, their eyes pushed up in a smile. "When you lot are done, I can finally end this meeting." Lavenderstar chuckled. Hawkblaze nodded through the laughter, and Ravenface slapped her tail into her mate's mouth, shutting the red molly up. "I didn't expect you to laugh *that* hard!" Ravenface hissed through her teeth, trying but failing to supress a toothy smile. (Lol this is in no way canon but I think it's really funny, and I love all the art & characters! This is my favorite clan generator challenge, genuinely!)

I’d love to hear about the leader to be that never resurfaced, and does it have anything to do with your version of the dark forest? Was it a random tragedy that has since been almost mythologized, or was it StarClan preventing a Brokenstar/Tigerstar situation? There’s so much interesting story potential in these videos I love it.

QUESTION: How do you make such beautifully diverse character personalities? Honestly the way you come up with such unique traits and stories for these cats is a work of art on it's own. I tend to gravitate towards personalities I like or associate with whenever I'm brainstorming my character's, well, characteristics, which more often then not ends up making my characters feel too similar or one note. Any advice? Edit: thank you for the responses I really needed the help

Ok I'm not sure if you were asking me, but I have an answer for ya! So, I definitely have a very hard time with diversity in personalities. I think it's because generally, when talking about writing characters, it's all about "think of yourself as the character" but really, that just makes for a character too much like yourself. It helps to actually separate yourself from the character and think of yourself looking at them from the outside. What would intrigue you about them? What would prompt you to think more, to see more, learn more- it helps! Try it out.

I’m not pb, but I like to look through E. A. Addam’s 638 personality traits list and use a random number generator to pick traits Also, to put it bluntly, don’t be afraid to make your character an asshole. A character’s likeability is not determined by how likeable they would be in real life but how entertaining they are to watch/read about. Even if they’re a good guy, they don’t have to always make morally sound decisions, it gives them room to grow which is a big part of compelling storytelling

Both of the other replies make fantastic points-- and I would add on: think about the character not as a person but as a part of the plot or a part of their group. What kind of personality would make them interact in interesting ways with other characters? If your story has a core theme, how do they embody or interact with it? That's why all my clans have a central idea of some kind, so i have a starting point. In Mistclan for instance most of the cats have something to do with honesty and/or social relationships (whether they have them, how they act socially with other cats, etc). I also do have a process video in the works that goes over this so once I get that all scripted hopefully it will be helpful!

Oh my god, the idea that Nettlebrook and Mudstream are two of the oldest yet possibly getting the most action is hilarious to me. More power to them! I don’t know exactly what their relationship is like, but I LOVE when elderly characters fall in love. Love and beauty shouldn’t be reserved for the young. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there’s no reason that two old timers can’t see each other as drop-dead gorgeous. (And yes, I said “drop-dead” as a reference to Mudstream’s unique sense of humor.)

Nettlebrook being in a cross clan relationship with Mudstream from Bayclan seems most likely as there are no cats from bushclan who can leave the clan at all, and no elders in lavenderclan told to leave for long periods of time. Mudstream is told to wander off to “do crime” or see nettlebrook as that would technically be a crime.

I remembered I named his mother Lizardstripe, and it was so funny thinking about that old fanfiction I made and how wildly different from his actual backstory it was

AHHHHHH I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! Time to theorize. I think that it would be REALLY cool if the many fears of the Bushclan cats came to pass. I assume that Smokeheart’s (and her dad’s) fears will occur in the form of the rest of the clan learning her secret. But what would be even crazier is if Pebblestar’s fears came to pass and Bushclan had to dissolve and join another clan. I think it would be cool if Bushclan joined Bayclan (since Bayclan is the most open to outsiders), only for them to realize that they CAN’T assimilate into Bayclan culture. Being so reckless just feels stupid when Bushclan has already lost so many cats and suffered so much tragedy! So then Mistclan reluctantly lets Bushclan join, but Bushclan can’t assimilate there either, probably because their apathy rubs Bushclan the wrong way. The message because clear - Bushclan MUST survive and thrive as their own entity! Without them, the clans don’t properly balance each other out! Other crazy idea - I theorize that both Pebblestar and Rookstar will die. Pebblestar, because that will force her deputy to face her fears of leadership. And Rookstar because, well, she’s only got two lives left and it seems appropriate that she due fighting with the strength of 100 cats during the (assumed) battle between Sageclan and Bushclan.

I'm so in love with the way you incorporate cultural differences between the clans, it makes them so rich and unique, I adore it!! Can't wait to see what you came up for Bushclan.
