I’m currently gearing up and man I’ve got to say this and your thru video are the two best resources out of anything I’ve seen on youtube. Reality, no flowery music, great stuff

I thought the Olympus would be my go-to shoe but I ended up liking the Topos Terraventure 3 even better. Comes with a great insole and lasts way longer than anything from Altra. So saves a lot of money. I only wear my Olympus as a street walking shoe now. I also got the sealskins as a camp sock. Glad it worked out for you. Don’t think most people know how great they are. For blisters… surprising you had both liners and the darn wool and still got blisters. Did you check to see if your feet grew? It happens from hiking due to swelling and increased muscle in the feet and toes. I used the same sock/liners and got blisters. Then got bigger shoes. Problem solved. A little Vaseline if I felt a hot spot coming. Never got a blister again. Also, keep the sock and your feet clean. At least at end of day. The dirt can give you blisters. That melanzana looks awesome. Nice gear review. Helps to know what didn’t work among popular brands. Looks like you lost a lot of weight on trail. I saw your great documentary. Nice job. What was your weight loss?

The injinji sock liners under the darn tough socks solved most of my blister issues. Most of my issues with blisters were prior to my AT hike. My total weight loss on the thru hike was around 30-35 lbs. Thanks for watching!

I think thru hikers are the best people to learn from when it comes to gear to carry or ditch, for long distance backpacking. Experience is really everything and certain things are of course personal. I carry more on section hikes but we're only going 5 miles usually. I think your almost 3 hour movie of the AT is the best I've seen, it's the closest thing to doing it myself which I can never hold out to do. Finding a sweetheart on the trail was cool to see and even cooler for y'all I'm sure, so are y'all still together? Or did your offtrail lives not intertwine?

We are still together! Thank you for checking out the videos!

Looking for your recommendation on hiking through Pennsylvania on the AT.. after doing it in trail runners would you recommend more of a hiking boot for that section of very sharp rocky terrain?
@hammwise_gamgee Жыл бұрын
I have really sensitive feet in general and PA was definitely a struggle for me, but most people find that the PA rocks are not as bad as they thought they were going to be. I can't personally recommend boots because I used boots when I first started backpacking and they led to a whole list of other issues for me. Once I switched to trail runners, I never looked back. My advice would be to just wear whatever you usually wear and you will do okay.
