Watching the Naturescape channel helps to relax. I used to be balanced between studies, sports and social life. But I over did some things and under did some others and i messed up the balance. Now all i do is stay in bed all day or obligations. Sucks, wish i could enjoy life freely, my way.

Someone shared your video on Reddit and I’m so happy they did because this is the most validating and helpful information I’ve seen on PCS in the 4 months I’ve been navigating this. I finally understand more of the science behind the symptoms I’m feeling and know what I can do to move forward. Thank you so much!!!

Wow this video has changed my life already. SO grateful to have found it. I have been assaulted and have limited resources just by way of where i live - very rural area. And educating myself on what a concussion actually is and steps for support is SO empowering because so many physicians ive seen already have very outdated information. The mindset and anixety piece is so crucial to me right now and just listening to this video is so healing for me. Thank you for sharing it with the world, i wish i had access to one of your clinics but again SO grateful you shared this. Blessings to you all ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I had a skiing concussion in March 2000. I have struggled with depression ever since. Diagnosed bipolar shortly after concussion. Used to have good focus and an okay mood. I feel like my mood went bad doing the summer regional selection basketball team in 1999. I used to see clearly. Then i made the mistake of enriched french and enriched math and chose geography instead of biology and quit basketball.

I have had PCS for almost 8 years, and I am concerned that it is said that the more time you spend with PCS and chronic neuroinflammation, the more damage the neurons are caused, also that the more time you spend without treatment, the more difficult recovery is. Is this damage really caused by having PCS or is it due to other things? I would also like to know if this damage can be repaired?
@CompleteConcussions
@CompleteConcussions 2 ай бұрын
PCS is not due to "brain damage" - it's due to other factors which are completely treatable. So anyone telling you otherwise is not up on the latest research. So there is no damage that needs to be repaired...just dysfunctional systems that need to be fixed. Check out Concussion Fix (google it) - it is quite effective. Also we have a black friday sale on right now where you can join for only $1 - here is the link if you'd like to check it out: concussiondoc.io/offer/join-concussion-fix-now/?coupon=socialcdoc

Whats the difference between the terminology concussion and TBI does grade 3 concussion also fall under mTBI or TBI
@CompleteConcussions
@CompleteConcussions 4 ай бұрын
There is no such thing as a grade 3 concussion. Concussion grading scales have been abandoned since the early 2000's because they actually don't matter in terms of prognosis or recovery. A TBI is a traumatic brain injury and comes in 3 severities (Mild, Moderate, Severe). A concussion is the same thing as a mild TBI (mTBI).

Hi Dr. Cameron, when we've already experienced a concussion, a subsequent concussion, even if of lesser intensity, can still pose harm. Could you provide a rough threshold estimation (how much G-force) for the force the second impact must exert so to estimate the second force ?
@CompleteConcussions
@CompleteConcussions Жыл бұрын
The force required is actually the same for a concussion regardless of how many you've had...according to what we currently know. This video may help explain: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2KWaaF3l5eWkKc

Sir pls if you have spare time can you evaluate (1st impact) "sustained an impact to the right side of my head while riding in an auto-rickshaw en route to school. The road we were traversing was uneven and in poor condition. Feeling fatigued, I had relaxed my neck muscles and was dozing off inside the moving vehicle. Suddenly, as the auto crossed over a ditch in the road, there was an intense jolt. Since I was seated on the side of the auto closest to the ditch, the vehicle tilted sharply down on my side when the wheel dipped into the depression. With my neck loose and head unrestrained, the tilting action caused my head to involuntarily whip toward the right side. At that same moment, as the wheel emerged out from the ditch, the auto leveled out again. However, this rapid straightening motion led the metal bar framework on my side to forcefully strike the right side of my head. The entire sequence transpired rapidly, lasting only around 0.6 seconds by my estimate. The collision was forceful enough to accelerate my head significantly to the left In the aftermath." And another 3 days after the first incidence (2nd impact) " I was crossing the road in zebra crossing but I don't see red light so I was crossing the road and the biker man with 3 riders was approaching me at around 24-25 km/hr, collided from the right hand side in the back wheel laterally the hit in the back wheel caused the tube blob out of the tire and burst, also it deform and caused my wheel to bent , now since the hit caused my body to lurch on left side and my head whips to the left and also i feel a sensation of warmth in my left head which gone after 30 min " I HAAVE IMPACT ON SAME SIDE , SIR ACTUALLY AFTER THOSE TWO INCIDENCE I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY FINDING RIGHT WORDS ,FORGETFULLNESS AND TROUBLE SPEAKING AND ITS NOT GOING FOR 1.5 month , DID I lose neuron ? sir can you please evaluate ?

How on earth does it make any sense that it takes 70-120G’s to get a concussion!?! That’s absurd. Please explain. How is heading a soccer ball more G forces than a formula one race car? I don’t know anything about G-forces and I want to understand.

"Hello, Dr. Marshall , myself from university of Massachusetts (MIT), I deeply value your advice and guidance as it played a crucial role in my recovery from a previous concussion. However, I've encountered a recent incident that has left me in need of your advice once again. I wanted to share that I recently experienced a concussion two days ago, and unfortunately, it has occurred again and lso in the same side of head(i.e right to left). I'm wondering, would a sudden sideways motorbike collision with a cycle, causing a forceful movement of my torso ad my head in relative (lateral cervical flexion),can it potentially worsen my previous concussion ?
@CompleteConcussions
@CompleteConcussions Жыл бұрын
It's definitely possible...although no one can say for sure. In these cases, the best bet is to treat it like a concussion and do all the things that are required for recovery (balancing autonomics, fixing gut/inflammation, sleep, neck issues, etc.)

What is the minimum level of G-force required to disrupt or make the blood-brain barrier (BBB) porous? I'm concerned that even if a concussion doesn't occur, inflammation could still damage brain cells. ☠️ Additionally, do subconcussive hits or subconcussion also lead to BBB disruption and inflammation?
@CompleteConcussions
@CompleteConcussions 6 ай бұрын
These are questions that I don't believe are known at this time unfortunately. There is speculation that subconcussive impacts could cause some damage but we don't know what the threshold for that is or whether or not this is the case.

I’ve been told I’ve been dealing with PCS for 7 months now. I stood up really fast and hit my head on my fridge enough to send me back down. I’m confused on how hitting my head on a fridge could possibly be enough force to cause 7 months of pain?

I playes now 500 hours Virtual Reality Boxing. There you need to slip dodge very quickly to not get punched. I am not sure if it‘s damaging my brain i never get punched because its not real but i move very quickly my head when the punches come. What do you think. It‘s most of the time back sometimes left or the right.also ist there a way to measure if because i really don‘t want to give up this hobby i want to do this the next years too.

Hi Dr. Cameron,😃, you said even a mild second concussion can be harmful when it happens soon after the first one that's still causing issues. So, like, how hard of an impact or how many g-forces applied the second time around would start to cause problems? Actually, during our ivy final tennis league quarterfinals my teammate whacked me accidentally but hard on the right side of my head with her racket as she fiercely swung at the ball. I felt a little dizzy but taking it lightly I kept playing. However, just 4 days later in the semis, she smacked the very same spot on my noggin again😰 with the racket. It's been 1 month and I'm still feelin' all woozy and cruddy. I'm worried about getting a second impact so soon after the first...... The fact you said a twin trauma soon after the first one can potentially cause permanent damage due to possibly killing of some precious neurons due to lowered energy levels in the brain is freaking out...😬 Can you estimate how much force the second impact in during the symptomatic phase, perhaps in g-forces, in that closed proximity period, at which a second concussion can pose cumulatively harmful effects so that i can assure myself that I didn't take on way worse invisible harm, ya feel? 🙄

Thank you for taking the time to respond previously sir , despite your busy schedule. Knock knock !, again with one more question !! About the distribution of mechanical stress during a concussion. Specifically: 1. Even distribution:-Does the mechanical stress exerted on neurons during a concussion affect each neuron equally, causing uniform damage to all neurons not a single neuron out of billion in that area undergo more than that degree of damage due to equal distribution?🫤 Or 2.Uneven Distribution of Stress:- Is the mechanical stress distributed unevenly, with areas closer to the point of impact experiencing more strain and damage than neurons further away? For instance, in a mild concussion, are there focal areas of the brain where some neurons suffer more damage due to their proximity to the focal impact site, while others areas just adjacent to that experience minimal damage due to less proximity to the point of impact ?😨 If the second point is accurate, could a mild concussion, even with a lower G-force (e.g., 60 force), still potentially damage neurons that are particularly vulnerable due to their location relative to the impact? Could this result in severe injury outcomes, such as axotomy or severed axons, for a few neurons?😱 In summary, does the damage to neurons result from unequal mechanical strain, or is the force causing a uniform degree of damage across all affected neurons? Thank you for your insights.👍
@CompleteConcussions
@CompleteConcussions 5 ай бұрын
This is a very detailed question that we don't currently have the answer for (at least some of the questions). The mechanical stress is not going to be evenly distributed however the area of the impact does not matter, nor does it necessarily mean that it's going to undergo the most stress. The reason is this - the brain is a jello-like consistency. So no matter the location of the impact, what matters is the acceleration/deceleration of the head - when this occurs the brain is going to stretch and sheer in all different directions - the points which seem to be the most susceptible are the connecting axons between the two hemispheres (corpus callosum). So, we know that location of impact does not matter both for symptom presentation and recovery time and that the injury is diffuse in nature affecting axons in various parts of the brain that are impossible to predict. Now, could a smaller force cause damage in a few axons? I guess it's possible, but they would still have to exceed the threshold for ion exchange to occur - and I can't see a scenario where a small area of axons exceeds the threshold but no other parts of the brain do. The whole brain has to undergo considerable levels of acceleration in order for any axons to undergo enough stretch/sheer to cause injury - so if a few axons are undergoing this level of strain, then there is a good chance that many of the others are as well - and concussion occurs.
