NO! You will end up destroying the decentralization of the validators. Bitcoin is BASE LAYER money. It's the settlement layer. Even Hal Finney talked about the necessity of bitcoin banks as a scaling solution.

Are the BTC fees "the new normal?" It is probably not going to be the new normal at all times. However, the new normal will have spikes like this until the vast majority of transactions are done on the 2nd and 3rd levels. The fees are untenable. The positive thing that may come out of it is that it may make 2nd and 3rd level solutions more urgent; hence, accelerating the development and adoption of scalable off-chain solutions.

Rob, I always wonder when I hear Americans talking about bank transfers taking 3 days, why is that so? In Germany you can send money instantly in seconds from one bank to another. In Australia, you can do bank transfers just using email id’s or phone numbers in seconds. And all the final settlement arguments don’t count, money is all digital these days.

People are going to have to get used to high fees as the Bitcoin supply is reduced. Miners need the revenue to stay in business. If they are getting less in rewards. Fees are going to have to make up the difference.
