I love your videos, as a builder here in New Zealand building multi story apartment blocks, I've now got my team and now my bosses watching your videos and i can tell you have made us check and recheck every trade that comes though our doors, your videos helped us identify red flags pertaining to trades giving us fake paperwork and insurance paperwork, some of the paperwork filed to us was so good some of our government's departments had to do a double take when checking them as they all had the right stamps and signatures, we now have such a robust team of 6 setting standards above and beyond what we would normality do, and we now offer this service to other companies here; which helps off set our fixed costs.

Apparently the crew learned their trades in China, they are using construction techniques from China with materials from China and even instructions on the wall in Chinese. What would you expect? Does the foreman even read enough English to be familiar with the complex Australian building code regulations for bathroom waterproofing or roofing? For an Aussie tiler who has grown up with Aussie standards the waterproofing would be second nature, but certainly not for recent immigrants who still communicate in Chinese on the site. Same for roofing or any other trade. I hope the plumbing has not been done by Chinese plumbers, as in my experience, China has some of the worst plumbing in the world. Homes or condos that fall apart after a few years are called Tofu-dreg in China and are all too common.

When are you voters out there going to decide that Liberal and Labor are NON COMPLIANT and when are you going to vote them out?

The fixings for the pex pipe are also non compliant. You cannot use electrical clips and zip ties to fix plumbing pipes.

It almost brings me to tears knowing that there are contractors doing this sort of work.

It’s just plain dangerous. How many buildings remain in this state. We need a royal commission into the disgraceful building industry. Thanks so much for your work

Aye aye aye! It really saddens me. It seems to be endemic. I will be relieved when you walk on a site and everything is good.

In my experience, tilers and gyprockers are generally 95% foreign student workers who know nothing at all. There are a couple of guys who do the "set out" and a couple for supervision. The jobs are shoddy as all hell. They work incredible hours at incredible speed, sacrificing all quality.During the Queanbeyan hospital upgrade, they were shitting in the corridors like animals while working into the night. I ran into a mob of Serbian gyprocker gents from Sydney on a site, and they told me all they did was rectifications, it was their bread and butter. Builders pay peanuts, and they really do get little monkeys.

Id hate to ask but who were the builders, local or imported with the windows

Seriously, I served my carpentry apprenticeship in the 70’s. My mentor told me that under no circumstances we would build a box gutter. I wonder why ?

Gotta give them credit then for actually ripping the whole thing apart and not closing the business down.

This would scare the shit out of you if you were in the market to buy a property that was built in say the last 5 to 10 years.

Can we have some serious regulation in the Australian building industry. No one in their right mind will build in this country until consumers are not continually screwed over.

Maybe if Australians stop historically voting in clowns everywhere things might improve.. don't hold your breath though..

Wow - sadly this was a familiar scene for us. Our builders took too long between laying the scree and tiling over it - and in the meantime it lifted. But can you tell me when the rules about window labels came in. Ours went in when we had an extension done on our 1940's house - there is no label on any of them. Great work. Well done

We are currently at the end of pre-construction waiting to be released to construction. For some reason our builder keeps coming up with excuses to delay us to construction over issues that should have been rectified months ago. Anyway, seeing this makes me think we're making the biggest mistake of our lives. So much of this could or should be resolved if they had a supervisor on site 8 hours a day. From what I hear you are lucky to see one for 10 minutes once a fortnight.

It's one thing for builders to have poor workmanship but i reckon it's also on the lazy site surveyors who pass inspections which let's builders think everything is compliant. Thank you for the follow up vid

To book an inspection online, the client has to tick a box stating they agree to the 'terms and conditions'. I cannot find a list or any reference to what your terms and conditions are anywhere on your website.
