Dave, I'm so happy that you clearly state that an FX-Loop doesn't make sense in an Amp-Design like "The Plex". I'm always telling that, but no one listens to me... 🤣

Agree with Dave on price of amp in regards to operating costs. A lot of people have no idea what it costs to make a product and pay people to build it, own or rent a building, keep the lights on, pay insurance, advertising, etc. $2,700 isn’t bad at all. Haven’t bought a new amp in years but this one is giving me serious GAS.

I think that’s a reasonable price for the PLEX. Keep in mind the customer service you get from Dave after the sale. You can’t put a price on that.

I think a good compromise for the (don't get mad) FX LOOP issue with plexi-style amps is to at least offer a DI OUT jack. That way you still get the input and preamp gain, then run that signal to an additional clean amp or power amp. But this would require a split and I do not know if that would affect the performance of preamp->power amp in the plexi.
@robertmosack25329 ай бұрын
Why no videos of either the Z Wreck module or the Soldano rack preamp? I was shocked to hear that both were functional...yet no demo at all. Strange.
@CC-vf1yl9 ай бұрын
Dear David, great show as always. How does the new Soldano X88IR compare to the old Custom Audio Electronics 3+ SE in your opinion. I found it interesting to hear that channel 1 in the old Soldano Preamp was sort of flat sounding. Thanks and many greetings from Germany. Best, Christian

Nope you don't need or want an effects loop in an amp like the Plex, I'm happy Dave stuck to his guns with that! Personally my first two amps (solid state Peavey combo and hybrid tube pre/solid state power Fender) didn't have effects loops, I just ordered pedals with how they sounded best. My first real tube amp was a JCM900, I tried using the loop for time effects but hated the "corruption" of the power amp, so went back to placing them in front. Still do it today.
@daustin7779 ай бұрын
I don't get it, the constant amp questions I see everywhere with a lot people - 1. Does it take pedals well? 2. Does it have an FX loop? I'm guessing most of these players have never played a gig either. 😀
@timp.95829 ай бұрын
I haven't played many gigs but I can say that I used effects once and that was enough. Just the guitar, amp, and amps reverb. That's all I found that I needed.

I don't get all these loop questions? If it's an active loop, or buffered loop with it's own tube, they work great. I wouldn't buy a new amp without one. I always use the loop at any volume. The Marshall DSL loop works great. Send out to a Hush, then a BBE, then a couple different rack mount multi effects units then to a rack mixer then back to the return of the Marshall.

Marshall plexi 50 watt reissues have fx loops, wel the newer ones, I have a older one a 1998, no fx loop, and I have a 2021 year head that does have fx loop, but I don't use it ( laughs) but I did have master vol. installed in the channel 2 low sensitivity input jack, which now has the master vol. knob. any way they sound great!

Not everyone wants the FX Loop for Modulation (which I agree, I wouldn't want if the loop sounded bad). Some of us would like to use it for a volume / boost, for solos ? That would have been fine right? Get a Power Station? They cost as much as another amp. Sorry to be 'crying' about it, just trying to understand. Footswitchable dual master would have been cool.
@markdonatelli57429 ай бұрын
Exactly! Always use a loop for volume / solo boosts. I have the Smallbox 50 and will stick with that. My favorite amp of all time 🤘
