About the High vs Low output pickups i agree with Dave F 1000%! Originally pu's like the Dimarzio super Distortion were made to push.boost the front end of a Non MV Marshall(or other non MV)amp. Young players these day's do not seem to understand this and use a really high output pu's through a 5150. Not saying you cannot use a high output p'u with a 5150 or other high gain head but are you compressing that signal to hell and back! 😁

I agree. Back in the day we needed high output pickups. I still use JB's, Customs and SD's because I've used them for decades and like their tone but I don't dime the gain like I used to either. I've started sticking with lower output stock Gibson pickups that I automatically would have swapped out in the past and having great results especially with the right boost.

@@Darth.Shredder I use both high output and low in different guitars. I like P.A.F's in My R9 and my R7 but my EBMM Axis has a set of custom wound dimarzio's that are phenomenal! The bridge pu is like a perfect JB. In my Ibanez RG 550 I like the PAF pro's by dimarzio and Duncan makes a lot of great stuff so i have a few of his pu's in different guitars. His 59/custom hybrid p'u is great.

Dave’s comment at 1:30:27 is 100% correct. I’ve dealt with A LOT of sound guys who refuse to deal with amps on stage but will tell me that the mix is better without the stage volume. At the same time, when I’m in the audience the mix is horrible and I see the guitar players rocking away because the mix in their IEM’s is loud and clear. It drives be crazy both as a performer and as a listener! Sometimes I wish that IEM’s were never invented!

There is video of Warren saying that when he was at Seymour Duncan shop to voice the RTM pickup, that he was playing through a amp that was not his own and it didn’t have a lot of gain. So the pickup ended up being hotter. Once he played it through his rig he noticed the pickup was way too hot for his liking. He would roll the volume down to use it. So I’m assuming he uses a lower output pickup normally.

I have a dumb question man, about the Joyo Mjolnir maybe you've heard of it. There's a lot of op amps in this thing, I'm wondering why when it doesn't really need it. Also when u jack the front end with 4 compared to stock 1meg it sounds infinitely better. Being tailored to the heavy crowd why would they do this? I realize it's likely nobody knows but I'd like your thoughts if possible. If not, u still rule man and thanks for the great content 🤘

Phil McKnight phrased it perfectly I think, he says "your guitar picks the gauge strings it likes". I was excited to do a first time string change on a Jeff Loomis Jackson Kelly. This guitar was one of those that you didnt want to put down and I consider myself lucky that I like it as much as i was hoping i was going to. I buy every guitar online based on where i live. So Ive been really liking how 9.5 to 44 gauge feels and sounds, this Kelly had 9's on it. im real bummed out, just doesnt sound as good plus its not as easy to play, usually I cant tell a such a small gauge increase but this guitar just prefers 9's, at least for now.
