Another brilliant episode. You guys are awesome. I watch them with intent the first time through, then rewatch as background noise while working. I’m a huge fan. This show is great fun.

I bought a Colossus in 2014, it has been a absolute pleasure to own, built like a tank. Sounds amazing on every channel, its got a quality sound to it. Sounds like an amp after it has been through a mixing board with studio effects when its dry. Amazing stuff, great guy to buy an amp from. Dave Friedman makes some great gear too, had to part with my Friedman amp for financial reasons but will be buying another one some day.

Listening and watching you guys is over the top. Now I gotta buy one of your amps. I imagine it will have the very same spirit y'all have in spades. Can't get any better than that. I'll be in touch soon.

Just loving this ! Changing strings on 3 guitars ready for some home recording and there you are. This is the best guitar-related show on KZbin bar none. Keep this show pure and continue with the no-limit with regards to the clock - time becomes irrelevant when so much useful and interesting stuff is discussed and all the pointless dumb stuff too. Carry on guys.

Wow how cool two of the best amp makers in one chat session. Bummer I missed it. Would love to get time on a KSR amp as no stores carry them here in northern California. Friedman takes the best of Marshall for an American made amp.

Kyle is a complete class act as is Dave. I use my BE100 and Orthos in tandem for all my studio work and live. Can’t say enough good things about these guys. Kyle’s customer service is second to none.

Before physical problems made it far too large and heavy for me, I used my Fryette Sig:X's controls to “design” a single-channel amp to suit a particular playing session: amps can have a lot of controls without falling into the Mesa trap. Of course, I am going to switch to Synergy is order to comply with my body's new requirements.

on the topic of diodes, I like to know because I love pedals in front, and to me its kinda like stacking when you're using a pedal into an amp that is diode clipping - that is, if diodes are always before the preamp. It's just nice to know what to expect from your pedals imo

The best amp I've tried till date is the KSR Colossus in 2014 at Van Nuys. The attack and the responsiveness was unlike any other amp, that being said I've never tried any Friedman amps and don't know what I would or wouldn't like.
@duck25872 жыл бұрын
Have you tried the ksr gemini?
@michaelvilogi69753 жыл бұрын
I bought a KSR shortly after then. Then another. Then another. Some of the best amps (and Friedman, of course) around (and yes, I bought a Dirty Shirley 40w too)
@brendanlucero85852 жыл бұрын
If you don't mind me asking, which KSRs do you own? I'm kind of interested in getting one. Specifically the Juno but in my area of the country they do not carry them.
@michaelvilogi69752 жыл бұрын
@@brendanlucero8585 I owned a few. I had an Ares first, which was great. Then I had an Orthos II which I got used while my Juno 50 was being built. I now have the Juno50 and I have had it for almost two years. Its the best high gain amp ive ever had, mainly because its both crushing AND high fidelity depending on how you set your channels. I had a few old Hotrod 50 /25 Soldanos, Mesa, Marshalls before this and it crushes them all. Build quality is top notch and Kyle is easy to reach out to . Hope that helps!
@brendanlucero85852 жыл бұрын
@@michaelvilogi6975 It really does help. I appreciate the response greatly. One more question if you don't mind me asking. Does the good Juno have good note separation with alot of gain happening? What i mean is say you play a chord, and there's a lot of distortion going on. Can you still hear the individual notes amongst all the distortion? because some amps tend to muddy the individual notes at high volumes.

talkin G12H75 creambacks. i have an old g12h30 that i own that ive used in a couple of 1x combos & its my fav speaker. this winter i built one of hoffmans 5f6a circuits in a 1x12 combo. i didnt wanna cook my old H-30, but i did try it at lower volumes, i tried alnico blue, heavy ass ev12", cts, g12m25 gb.. again, my old 12h30 ruled the roost.. so i bought a creamback g12h75, hoping it would be similar to my old, h-30 just higher power capacity. so far its awesome it sounds real close to my old h-30. still breakin it in. im thinkin theres something, for me anyway, about the heavy magnetted G12 celestions

I do not like diode clipping, particularly in an amp, as I design my guitar circuits to take advantage of tubes' responsiveness.

Is the “boost” switch on the Runt amps also a “diode clipping” circuit? Not that it matters...sounds great regardless. 👍🏼
@sahlomonic6 жыл бұрын
tomulator the Boost switch is actually slightly misleading. It's more of a gain cut than a gain boost.
@tomulator6 жыл бұрын
Cale Sahl thx but, not exactly sure what that means...can you clarify? When I turn it on...there is more gain. 🤷🏻♂️
@Robstafarian6 жыл бұрын
The “boost” mode is the circuit acting normally; hence, the implied “normal” mode reduces gain. This reflects the timeline of Dave's design and dealer comments. By the why, I would argue that diode clipping absolutely matters.
