Hey Rt you can get scales, horns, and fangs from the dragons. I think you hit the horn too low that one time so it counted it as a scale piece

I’m pretty sure it was a horn hit, but the first time you hit a dragon it always gives you a scale (for the spring of power)

Yeah, can confirm. Dragon loot comes in scale, claw, fang, and horn varieties, I believe in that order of elixir potency and selling price. (Horns are the best, although they're not the hardest to get.) Hitting a dragon anywhere except the horn, face, or leg/foot will get you a scale. Each dragon also has an associated Spring, which is a shrine quest; one for each Triforce piece. You just have to get to the spring and then Hylia will tell you to offer a scale from the relevant dragon to unlock the shrine. It's kind of an intro to dragon farming (although for many people, it's the only time they'll ever shoot the dragons), so they make sure that the first time you hit each one, you get a scale no matter what. I've pretty much worked out the rules about how the dragons work and how best to farm them, so if you want more info, just ask!

@@katsucandy No, you're only allowed to shoot it once. Once you hit it and it sparkles and the piece flies off, the dragon will fly up into the sky, and shooting it again won't do anything. So he did try shooting it again, but no sparkle, just a lost arrow. You have to wait until after midnight of that day before it'll respawn and you can get another piece. That's what makes dragon farming such a pain. (The glowing points you saw might have been the fire that the dragon shoots off when you get close enough.)
