I'm so excited to find your channel! You're one of the few KZbinrs doing Audio Post in Nuendo/Cubase, and it's SO helpful to see. Loving your videos so far and can't wait to see more

how do you the voice to sound so big and do you use effects to do this ?

Would it be possible for you to do a video on how to achieve this type of template from a completely empty cubase project? I'm new to cubase migrating over from FL Studio and I'm new as hell to cubase. For instance, how do you get the video track, master marker track, etc. to stay at the top of the template. I can't figure out how to do it. That would be a great help. Or could you have the template up for download possibly?
@AftertouchAudio10 ай бұрын
I don’t actually own Cubase, but you can get the tracks to stay at the top of the template by clicking through (\) at the top right of the timeline. I’ll work on a new template and make it available on the site soon.

@@AftertouchAudio Hey, just checking in to see if you were able to upload the template or do an actual template breakdown video where you start from scratch? I'm having trouble figuring out how to get two master tracks and link tracks to which tracks, how to create sends, etc. lol My apologies for this newbie energy

I’ll work on. Nuendo Template today to get uploaded.

@@AftertouchAudio Oh shit, you did say that .. I thought this was cubase, they look oddly similar lmao Will the nuendo template work on cubase or would I need to purchase Nuendo?

that's genius to put PFX in dialogue folder but routed to SFX!

Thanks for a fab video, I'd love to see a more indepth view of how you print your stems! :)

File - Export - Select tracks I would like to export from, render. Nuendo has some awesome export features.
@MagnusChirgwin Жыл бұрын
@@AftertouchAudio ok, thanks for answering! So you don't print your stems to audio in the supersession? In real-time I mean! As opposed to exporting them and creating a new audio track from that export
@AftertouchAudio Жыл бұрын
I personally don't print my stems in my session in real time. There are advantages to printing them like being able to update a portion of the original mix without having to render out the entire process again, but I've always found it to not save that much time compared to just rendering it out again. With that being said, Nuendo still has the ability to do a real time export, and on my export I can just select my FX, MX, M&E, DX, & Master Groups to get all the required exports in a single pass. Where as, if you are using ProTools you'll have to do each export separately so printing in ProTools is easier.

As always Tyler your videos help me a ton! I would like to hear you show us how you cut DX for perspective changes. I've been through a lot of forums and it seems to be a pretty hot topic still... What's your approach?
@AftertouchAudio2 жыл бұрын
Perspective changes like distances? Kinda depends on the situation I guess. Filters delays and reverbs tend to be the main approaches to distant mixing.
@lorenzo47082 жыл бұрын
@@AftertouchAudio Yes, but I was referring to the "decision-making" process of choosing when to portray distance and how to do it without making the cuts more obvious. Of course, it would depend on each film, but something along the line of: - When would you keep the DX sounding close up even if the shot changes from a CU to a wide/long shot? Or - If the scene goes from a tight 2-shot to the CUs back and forth there might not be a need to mix the change of perspective, but if there's a big change in POV, then yes, and so on... No need to try to explain these examples here, but a video/challenge on that topic would make my year! I might need to search more but haven't yet found widely accepted info or any concrete info at all on this subject. Just the usual "how to make DX sound distant" tutorial, which doesn't really answer those questions... Thanks Tyler!

My way of organizing my template goes like this: Dialogue Ambience (on screen ambient sfx) SFX Foley Backgrounds (off screen ambient sfx) Music
@AftertouchAudio2 жыл бұрын
That is almost the order in which I do a mix. Dialogue and Ambiences/Background Effects 1st, SFX & Foley 3rd, then the music mix.

Really enjoyed that video without the usual background music. Feels neat and pro, just more pleasant to watch for me. But that's just me.

having music is more of a self-confidence thing, being on camera is nerve racking haha
