A thoughtful, behind the scenes glance at all the steps that take place during the post shave. Your audience can experience all the care and maintenance you practice. All the while the soap imparts the skin friendly properties, the sanitizing duties are whisked away with the magic of editing. This reinforces my admiration for your unfettered genius by way of OCD. It is this novel regimen that keeps your gear in top condition. Riley was unimpressed, but I was, in every aspect. Thanks for this demonstration in a methodology that benefits all who wet shave. I hope the meetup was a tremendous success. Thanks again, mate. The world is yours to instruct. My sincere respects to your Mrs., and the indifferent Riley.

Really cool seeing what you do after the shave is done. I will put water into the brush like you, holding it so that the bristles are supported, then I will shake the water out a bit and lightly squeeze the bristles, listening for a "soapy" sound. You can hear if there is any remaining soap in it. If there is, I will repeat the process until I do not hear the "soapy" sound in the bristles. I then lightly tap the bristles against my thumb while over the sink, so that the excess water sprays into the sink and not all over the counter. I purchased a bigger brush and it wouldn't fit into the stand, but I had some 12 (AWG) and fashioned a stand with a piece of heat shrink tubing to make the upright part of the stand. Necessity is the mother of invention LOL

When I was a teenager living in Buenos Aires, I used to watch my Great Uncle shave. He always insert the the blade in the razor one side to shave and the next day would use the flip side of the blade. He said it was to wear the blade evenly. Not sure if this makes a difference but its a custom I use

Great clean up. I pat dry blades. I do apply touch of some barts oil onto blade which ends up in packet. I think this keeps blade nice and slick. Just summink I thought useful. Clean razors. Blow out water from the hollow parts of razor. Rinse my brush, (only cheap brush) it always looks good after. My hard soap puk is in an old metal pudding bowl. Open top. Running out of my Mitchel wool fat. Now replaced with a Scottish fine soaps vetiver and sandalwood. Nice puk really great shave today.🤠😃👍

Very useful video Kevy!!! Cute dog too! I use my bathroom windowsill for all of the drying as well. I have a mini dishwasher rack with a towel underneath that I modified for drying of soaps, brushes, shave bowls, and the like. Rubbing the last of the soap into the face at the end is something I'm going to start doing. Great video!!!

When you put the soap rinse off on fast forwards, it reminds me of a trick my Dad played on me as a kid.He played back a tape of what he said was me eating a bowl of ceral which was a favorite, and I was in shock,said surely I dont sound like that do I?It was a recording our dog lapping up water in his dish. I still get rubbed on that one from time to time😄Enjoyed the video Kevy,appreciate it 👍

Nice tips. Very similar to my routine. Good tips about the brush holder from the table and leaving the soap on your face. I also, from time to time, clean my razor with alcohol. I always wipe the razor blade very gently after washing...this is the 2nd time I have heard not to wipe it. Thanks for your video.
@azshooter3484 жыл бұрын
After rinsing the blade, I hold it by one end and twang it a few times to remove water droplets, then hold the other end & repeat. By the time I'm done rinsing and towel drying my razor, the blade is dry and ready to replace into the razor.

You are a VERY good, indulgent and patient host! I am astonished that people request(and this has been made of other KZbin shaving channels too)to see basic COMMON SENSE behaviors one would logically engage in post shave. Of course, there will be some variation but the core routine would be very similar since a razor, brush, soap and etc is a razor brush, soap and etc.... Yet some people NEED to see this in order to understand or know what to do????? Really? They can't figure this out by themselves? Incredible. I do not have that level of patience and tolerance to be a KZbin host. Plus, I have a sharp rapier-like tongue and scathing sarcastic wit which I would not hesitate to unleash...But that's me and you're you and I enjoyed the show. ;-)

You don’t really need to hang your brushes upside down. Just dry them thoroughly in the towel after the shave and give it a shake or 3 (not too vigorously to avoid the knot getting lose in the handle) I also thought for years it was mandatory to have my brushes upside down for gravity to pull the water out of the knot. I have owned 100+ badger brushes from Simpson, Shavemac, Thäter, M&F etc., so I know what I’m talking about here. Never had a knot come off the handle. If you ask the brush manufacturers, most don’t even recommend storing your brush upside down. The base of the handle is flat for a reason after all. To stand on. Cheers, Claus

Kevy, just so you know. Hanging a brush upside down is completely unnecessary. When you've first flicked out the excess water from the brush and dried it on a towel, the remaining water is going to EVAPORATE away, not drip. When water evaporates, it goes UP, not down. So it's better and easier to just set on its base. Otherwise nice seeing your post-shave routine.
