i basically listen to my body when i need food, even after a workout. if i'm not starving after a workout, i will not eat. i might eat like cottage cheese an hour after my workout. honestly i'm hardly ever hungry after a workout, especially if i ate properly throughout the day. the only thing i will make myself have is water :))

For morning workouts, I like to pound a protein shake because I usually don't eat a lot early. I try to get in some Greek Yogurt then workout, then shake.

Well said! Too many people live off supplements religiously expecting insane gains. Leave that to the Pro bodybuilders, get a great natural body and save your money. The tiny amount of gains you will get are not really worth it. Now I do like to have a plant-based protein powder mainly because the Vega one I use is delicious in shakes :)

There is only one season in which I can eat the amount of protein that my body requires to obtain my goals and that is winter. During the rest of the year, for me, as it is much warmer, I can't eat that much, especially summer with such heat. These are the periods in which I have 50% of my protein from shakes and for me it works amazingly. This is not just post workout, this is also for breakfast and even before going to bed. I would do the same throughout winter but I also want to have hot meals.

I normally eat high protein foods like grilled chicken or fish like salmon or ven peanut butter.. but at times I consume shakes... iv been doing the protein "Planta" from ambrosia collective... supposed to be grassfed.. I'm normally fasting on a 16/8 and I wrkout during fast then consume a meal with high protein or shake... My question is how long after workout? And me not consuming it will it hurt my gains?

High amounts of protein and also sugar spike insulin which put your body in an anabolic state. Bad if you are overweight, sedentary or have diabetes...but excellent for healthy people immediately after a workout. Spiking insulin too often leads to insulin resistance which is super dangerous so choose your moments carefully.

I’m a new subscriber. Thank you for the content. I want to start intermittent fasting, but I work out in the morning and usually have a protein shake afterwards. So if I give myself about a four to five hour window for my intake of food in the afternoon, what you are saying it would be alright?
@magicalmotivationman
@magicalmotivationman Жыл бұрын
I typically fast until midday, sometimes consuming a small amount of black coffee prior to stave off hunger, then have some light fat/protein food, & have one main meal 3-4 hours later (consisting of fat/protein). I throw in a protein shake prior to consuming my main meal, and/or a protein shake 2 hours prior to sleeping. I've been working out for 4-5 months now & muscle building has been consistent with hitting protein macros - the only difficulty is getting enough total calories on a low carb diet (if I added bread, sugar, complex carbs, I would likely be able to hit my total calories far easier.) Try listening to someone like "Andrew Huberman" or "Dr. Eric Berg DC" for more info on fasting; the anabolic window doesn't seem to be as much of an issue as I first thought (although there are possibly small benefits).

I know you guys talk a lot about cycling different supplements. My question is, is it ok to take a protein shake every morning. I use it as a fast breakfast because I don't have time in the mornings to cook something up and a protein shake is fast and convenient. Is this ok to do or should I be cycling it? (I'm currently following maps performance.)

Protein shake is better then nothing but saying that if you can find time to cook breakfast the night before I would go with that, that’s what I do. Cook my breakfast when I cook tea, I struggle for time in the morning too since I work out in the morning.

Hi there, awesome job and thank you so much for all the info! Love the podcast! Question: I have a protein shake every morning for breakfast (1 scoop + banana, peanut butter, milk, coffee, etc to make it delicious and nutritious). I do that because I just don't eat that much protein, even though I'm definitely somewhere between the 0.7 to 1g/lb of body weight. Am I overdoing the protein powder by having it everyday? Is this a bad idea in the long term? Thanks again!

@barbeegomes

Afrika Bruintjies hi Afrika, I use a cold brew concentrate that I make at home. I like adding it to the shake so I can get the benefits of coffee without drinking it straight - I don't like black coffee. But I like to add a bunch of things to my protein shake so it is always tasty, and I'm also adding nutrients besides the protein.

I checked out Legions thrive. It’s a lot of pea, rice and hemp derived proteins. Question one: does the blend of these various sources equal the amino acid profile of a stereotypical whey protein? Two: do you have any other companies that you fell positive that are non Dairy. Question three and most import net: HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOU HAVE A WORK OR PARASITE.

Hey guys, I have a horrible time with diet due to being on call... do you guys have any ideas on good things you can eat at 2-3 am in the morning when only gas stations are open?? I usually will just fast but some days I have to grab something and it’s usually horrible for me... anything I can make before hand that I can eat on the go? Or something that’s at 24 hour spots?

You don’t need one! Or any Whey. Just good whole foods and lots of good fats! Avocado 🥑 a day, have plenty of olive oil on your salad. I have three whole eggs every day. All nuts. It takes 24 hours to process one egg. Your body produces around the equivalent of 13 eggs in cholesterol everyday. The myth that cholesterol is bad is another subject. Cholesterol is a good guy. The mix is critical. Hdl/triglycerides- a ratio of one or under is optimal. I fast everyday, mix it up, usual 16 hours. This is a game changer. You control the king hormone Insulin. Maximise growth hormone. Ghrelin hunger hormone in balance. Eat well to in eating window and plenty of good calories to keep leptin healthy. If people only knew what these 4 important hormones were doing when they are eating and not eating it’s like gold! The industry and pharma world do not want people to be lean and strong, healthy as there no money in it. I train at home chin up bar. Simple heavy weighted rucksack. Burpees bodyweight. Lift heavy things in garden. Crawl jump move. Tabata protocol. Don’t need gyms or free weights. Talk to a roofer or scaffolder about strength and functional training. I’m 52 and most days do 40 burpees in one go. Not easy! Lots of small one or two minutes of training lots of times every day adds up to beast mode. No more long sessions for me. The 15 mins that some people take to go to gym I’ve finished my training. Keep up the good work guys. Great videos cutting through the bullshit. We all learn by mistakes. I look back at my 70 miles a week running as crazy. I don’t run anymore. I always running for buses and walking loads. That low level stuff is good. Then I add in ‘running away from the dinosaur’ training - full on the HIIT training eg the 40 burpees etc. I test my bp which is normal 120/80, get a fasting blood test every 2 years through doctor. Know hdl/triglyceride ratio. Mine is 0.88. Atb Jas 😎💪👍🏽👍🏽

Mind Pump TV yep sounds like you guys got some outdated source of information. Love the nocebo at the end with “high protein might cause cancer. But I’m talking like super high protein.” Maybe you guys should actually present some up-to-date studies on protein synthesis and be scientists for once and be prepared to change your position when presented with new confounding evidence. Or even speak on sufficient intake of leucine, isoleucine, and valine and the complications that arise from poor diet sources such as vegan diets and protein from vegan sources...or how supplement companies spike their proteins with cheaper far less effective amino acids and how these factors vary the gram of protein per lb of bodyweight recommendations. For example 48 grams of protein from lentils is nowhere near the same quality as a protein source as 48 grams of protein from a steak. Wagyu.

@twowheelsonly1 6 жыл бұрын
Vel1ar Wow. This has to be one of the dumbest replies I have ever heard. 90% of your protein at 2g/kg? I'm 6ft. 180 lbs. In order for me to get 90% of my protein from dairy I would have to drink 1 gallon plus 2 more cups of milk per day! (81 kg × 2 = 162g of protein × .9= 145g of protein. At 8g per cup, that's over 18 cups.) 18 cups of milk would also give you 108% rda of cholesterol and 270% rda of saturated fat. Ready for your heart attack next week? "Casein is the most relevant cancer promoter ever discovered." -T. Colin Campbell Enjoy your cancer! If the heart attack doesn't kill you first.
@Vel1ar
@Vel1ar 6 жыл бұрын
Wow. This is definetely the dumbiest interpretation of my words I've ever had. 1- I've never said that you or anyone else should eat what I eat. 2- Dairy doesn't end up on milk. For example hard cheese (~36% protein) or cottage cheese (18% protein, 0-2% fat). 3- Also it wouldn't hurt you to read reaserches on cholysterol that are more recent and not from 80s. 4- My point was that being adult human doesn't cause dairy intolerance. It's highly depends on individual's genetics & nutrition. Even more: if person already have intolerance that's not inbred it can be reversed in many cases (very unpleasant process though).
