The Philadelphia Phillies’ struggles continued as they took an embarrassing 14-4 loss to the New York Yankees Monday night!
Zack Wheeler got the start against the Aaron Judge led Yankees’ offense and Wheel’s came up small! He allowed 7 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks over 5 innings including 3 solo homers in the first 2 innings. Judge took him deep in the 1st for his 38th homer of the season. Then Judge homered again in the 7th inning off Yunior Marte.
Brandon Marsh was the only Phillie worth watching in the lopsided loss. Marsh hit his 2nd homer in his last 3 games and 11th on the season. He went yard in the 4th to bring the Phillies to within a run and make it a 3-2 game. Marsh later single in the game as well.
Segment 1: The Phillies are 28-26 since the May 24th, so them not playing like the “best team in baseball” is not a recent occurrence! And it precedes the London series. This is nauseating! 1) Wheelers got rocked at a time the Phillies needed him to be on top of his game! 2) Bryce Harper and the offense has picked a horrible time to turtle up! 3) Nice to see Stott and Marsh hit!

Well... the story behind the second Jazz HR was that he asked to use Judge's bat and Judge told him he better use it. That's a heavy bat and he used it. It wasn't meant to be a "beat your chest" kind of celebration. It was a dugout chuckle.

Mainly bc lately the Phillies have SUCKED vs much lesser arms than Louis Gil, so although Gil certainly deserves his praise, the story from a philly perspective is more why the Phils’ continue to struggle and not, “wow! out of no where the Phils got dominated by this rookie”
