That's not true about nobody reads your dissertation, other PhD students working on your topic may read it. When planning my experiments I mainly read other dissertations because journal articles often skip the details of hoe to to an experiment or why they did it in a certain way while dissertations explain all this. good suggestions, also sympathized with when after a failed experiment you are laying in a dark room on a couch maybe watching mindless something in attempt to obliterate the fact that you are a total loser, thought I was the only one and that you talk about the disillusion and burnout during the ends of doctorate. Although my ideals are already getting revived at the thought of starting a new place. miraculously Im about to start one postdoc in a subject very dear to my heart, not sure how I got picked as I come from very small obscure school in the USA with hardly any resources. In all my time as a PhD student in the USA I have never met a postdoc from the USA only from other countries. Wonder if there are any?
