I don't necessarily think every player used to hold their end of the bargain in recent years - Randle and RJ repeatedly gave up on defense. The reality is that iHart and Mitch (as well as Hart) covered ALL the cracks left behind by their teammates with outsize effort and dedication. The problem is that they are both gone/out, as is Precious, and all the cracks are showing. And seeing Mikal play with 0 sense of urgency or toughness (so far) only highlights this giant vacuum even further.

Watching bridges has been tough this year , where is the defense?

Would not be surprised if Knicks lose tonight nets, that pressure to win is probably too much

Bench outscored 29 to 13. The return of Precious is not going to change this. In order to be competitive the Knicks will need to add substantially to it somehow without adding too much salary. Also Bridges needs to turn it around in a major way (worst trade in Knicks history).

This starting 5 cannot win a championship because of our defense. We are the 4th worse team at rim protection. The 20th worse defensive efficiency. We give up offensive rebounds regularly. We need to send Hart to the bench, put Towns at PF and start Mitch (when he gets back) or Precious (for now when he gets back). Hart would be the perfect 6th man with McBride, Payne and Precious off the bench.

I severely disagree with your take aways! I strongly believe you're wrong and an apologist.

Bro you can’t just say that and not follow up with a substantive comment. Benji is one of the most level headed and smartest analysts not just in KFS but in the NBA analyst world.

@ShimmyMD Hello. In the beginning, he said that while the Knicks lost, the Knicks showed heart/guts/determination or something similar to fight back . I severely disagree with that comment because the standings page shows W - L...not how hard you fought to almost come back and win. Lastly, maybe it's just me, but I believe time now should be heavily devoted to how poorly the Knicks are playing defense. Specifically, the Knicks defense on the pick-n-roll is straight trash and the Knicks communication on the pick-n-roll is also trash. How about doing a video demonstration on how to properly defend the pick-n-roll (e.g., go over, go under, fight trough, hedge, double team, and appropriate rotations under different scenarios). The Knicks early in this season, even though it's been approximately 10 games played, are so piss poor on the pick-n-roll. NBA players are professional players who most of them have played basketball in middle school, high school, college, overseas, etc. How can the Knicks not know the basics on how to communicate on defense, successful defend against the pick-n-roll, and make appropriate in game defensive adjustments? These are more detailed comments.

@ I agree with you that defense is the biggest problem. Benji said that he will do film session to discuss the defensive issues and mentioned the defensive issues the whole pod. And I disagree that the process doesn’t matter. Yes, wins and losses matter but it’s still early in the season.

@ShimmyMD Hello. Ok. Thanks for reaching out to me asking for more details. When the deep dive on defense occurs, I believe one of three things are possibly true: 1) either Tibs is not teaching the team correct defense schematics (Xs and Os) on the pick-n-roll 2) Tibs is teaching the Knicks the proper defense, but the Knicks can't retain what Tibs is teaching them, or 3) The Knicks players don't have the basketball IQ or situational awareness to read, react, and make proper defensive adjustments.
