Use black smoke pipe 26 gauge min. Cement board for backing. People, don't duplicate this fire waiting to happen.

Everything your doing us WRONG!! That wasn't cement in the stove, it's special refractory cement and needs to be redone. That pipe is NOT stove pipe. It MUST be rated black stove pipe. That stove needs to be 36" from the wall unless you add an approved wall protector. Then you can get away with 18". Sheetrock is NOT a heat shield! Where you go threw the roof needs to be class A chimney pipe, double walled, stainless. And you need a real roof flange that will hold the pipe away from the plywood. This is a major fire waiting to happen and as it's not installed to NFPA specs your insurance will not cover any fire damage. If you don't know what your doing don't do it!!

Also, the pipe was installed backwards. Upper pipe should go into the lower pipe. Any creosote that builds up and gets dislodged needs to fall into the stove without a chance to fall outside of the pipe. Yeah, a lot about this video is scary, but can be used constructively to inform those starting out.

This was interesting. I'm going to guess this video was made to put the stove nazi type folks on edge. You certainly have succeeded 😅

It appears that the metal pipe you are using is not the correct. you need heavy black stove pipes. Thanks

I'm glad you fixed the old stove.

We ran our flue diagonally across our shop at a shallow incline, and gained lots of extra heat, before running it out of the roof.

That is an incredibly great idea and I definitely should have done it I'm realizing most of the heat is escaping

I was interested solely about the pot belly stove . One thing that I’ve seen on some other videos is in order to get the ‘ hot’ bed you are looking for is to use Match Light charcoal , as opposed to using various types of tinder in order to get things rolling , so that you only need to put enough to give you the glowing bed you are looking for . Any more videos you might make on your stove I would be interested in . Thanks

We have a similar wood stove in our workshop,it works good. Just a recommendation I would protect the plywood where it goes through the roof.Rockwool works good. Can’t wait to see next project

Thanks so much for the advice I'll definitely do that. And hats off to you for all the rust repair you've been up to on the military Jeep

What kind of stove pipe is that? Looks like HVAC duct work? That stove will get over 1000 degrees. Foil tape? Too funny! 😂 Nice one!

The cracked/damaged fire pot can be lined with high temp ceramic putty or cement. Even just 1” thick one the interior wall will protect from too high temps. That stove would burn coal very well. You would have to get a flue damper to reduce airflow. Great job and good luck!
