My GOD that was intense, I'm happy this didn't become another failed start even though the civ placement was kinda unlucky I think(seriously there's the entirity of Asia, Europe, and Australia and 3 or 4 out of 8 civs spawned in Africa) But you should still keep fighting and try to end this let's play as it should!(With millions of people getting nuked 'just because it's Ghandi')

believe me everyone goes thru this pretty much every time if you spawn in the middle of 3 civs and they tag team you theres nothing you can do. i can go maybe an hour before i go bang my head against a wall and try again later

I did the setup I told you about before giant earth 24 civs etc.... started as America went to see how the world was doing … Zulu killed off nubia and mvemba and arabia and Egypt and are taking over the world lol.they are at war with Persia currently .. watching with my apostles good war both very balanced … with their combine armies already in 120 AD . good game so far

you shouldn't get out of the city especially since arabia couldn't have besieged your city. You gain increased garrison defense with a unit inside the walls which makes it easier to heal the city and damages their warriors more. what you need is to decrease the surface area of his attack which you naturally had with the coast at your back.

I think the map type you chose is what made this annoying for you and honestly feels like a pretty boring setup for a game. Because of the set earth map and old world / new world, all the civs will be spawning near you and (probably) most of the cool city states will spawn in the new world where you won't see them until much later into the game. The mods you are running make it a MUCH more interesting game when you are playing for example on a fractal map and same civ to city state ratio. Usually end up with no immediate wars (because the AI near you isn't too pushed for space) and at least 1-2 natural wonders and 2-4 city states very close to you, so the games can vary in style a lot depending on what you get.
