Ragnar is inherently underpowered. It lacks the necessary attributes to make meaningful impact on match result. No burst damage to speak of, split turrets, and yet still retains a fragile platform. I would take 1 Conqueror..Thunderer or 1 DM or even 1 of just about any CA over 2 Ragnars on my team any day of the week. Now... If WG gave it the specialized repair party of the Nestrashimy ( and 1 more base charge)... And maybe a few more thousand HP if could make up for where it is seriously lacking with longevity.

While I see the potential and suffered the annoyance in bbs, there is this: Two days ago I was playing kitakaze in ranked. Was the last guy alive at 12k Vs a Libertad (10kish) and a Svea. Managed to isolate and kill the Lib and survive with 7k. Went for the cap, knew where the Svea was coming from. That guy was full hp. I opened up at 9 km. And, breaking his guns and throwing in the odd AP salvo to prevent him going broadside, actually managed to kill the guy with guns alone. Granted, not the sharpest tool in the shed and Kita is amazing, but my oh my did it show the limitations.

Play around the reload booster and hide for the rest - honestly though one of my favourite ships - very rewarding experience, just have position yourself well, and use the reload booster for the best moments ( great fire starter after you see a bb damage con )

Bourgogne should always be first steel ship imo. I say this as someone who has Z-42/Bourgogne/Stalingrade/Plymouth/Scilia/Incomparable/and I feel like I'm missing one more.

@@evolutionari Austin. That's the one I was forgetting. It's fine but I find it very situational. It would be nice to see another Des Moines style cruiser as a steel ship. Maybe something with 32mm bow armour would be nice.

Like you said I think it will be very powerful in a div with something like gearing. You mentioned it probably being great in a div with Svea Gearing and another cruiser. I think that 3rd should be wooster.

I find Plymouth is a great team support ship (Div/CB). Not as good with guns as Minotaur, but you do get both smoke, and radar, and hydro , and Heals. So all in all, she's a lot like the Mino, but not quite as much dpm, and yet a lot more stuff on deck.

Exactly what this game needed: another ship that never existed with smoke screen, rapid recharge, and with a radar that comes back on in a minute. They should just say it straight out that they want to stop people from playing DDs and so at least we can put our minds at rest. I'm really starting to get fed up with this way of implementing the game by WG.

I do play DDs quite often, dk why ur fed up because there arent many radars per game, they are not that hard to avoid if on your flank, just a bit of awareness and ur good

@@philipreber3314 I wish it was just the radars. In every game you find radar, submarines and CVs. And the DD game becomes a nightmare. It used to be that you could play with surprise attacks or by going around ships and penetrating deep into the opponent's deployment. Now it is almost impossible, because the opponent's aircraft carrier or submarine will spot you before you can perform the desired maneuver. Then the much-vaunted WG matchmaking should be revised because it is not that uncommon to be in a team with (for example) 4 cruisers on each side and while one side has no radar the other boasts 4 out of 4. Anyway, back to the ship in the video, I wish you not to find yourself against it. I have already had the dubious privilege of facing it 2 times and I can assure you that it is not at all pleasant.

Yo my man. Create ticket for wg support, ask for reverting your account to last save point. They are done every few days. You can do it once a year, you will lose few days Progress but get your step back. I had same situation last year, got incomp and NEXT day lauria came. Wg reverted my account to a state before 3 or 4 days before purchase

The Plymouth has British acceleration, better turning radius, 3x longer radar duration, hydro, a heal, better repair %’s, 10,000 more health, does only 30,000 less ap damage with only half its guns, and has better AP shells, yet the Svea is clearly better because it has HE, a short duration speed boost, 2 more smoke screens, and better torps?? I think you should play Plymouth more.

Ragnar guns is a big selling point tbf and that Daring smoke is nothing to sneeze at but it does sound like this is just another attempt at a Plymouth

Plymouth has garbage balistics so you can't do anything with the guns. Svea has some of the best in game...

You forgot vastly superior firing angles. And the health difference evaporates fast when you consider that Plymouth is much harder to overpen due to its size, to the point that blind fires often lead to citadels. I am quite fond of baiting overpens in my Austin/Jinan and Svea is the only T10 cruiser that’s even thinner.

I really dont know about svea… If i want the ragnar experience i take ragnar, and if i wanna farm in smokes i take smolensk or mino. Anyways the tools against dds are nice so maybe this is equally as good as brisbane in divisions

Fast moving HE spam ships are very hard to learn, because you have to constantly be on the move, dodge shells, and keep your aim on the target, definitely not for everyone.

Austin is more a meme than a serious ship. You either want it or you don't. Stalingrad is strong, but not like it used to be. Tanky, strong guns, big citadel and burns easily. Svea is probably the most interesting and challenging to play. It's possibly also the most competitive, but be prepared for potential nerds, since it's new.

For the look, it's compared to Ragnar. For weapons and gimmicks, i compare it to Brisbane. Brisbane has more guns, more torps, radar and hydro - and is for coal. Svea is for steel. And does not look worth it.

Svea has short smokes and torps and Ragnar doesn’t have Citadel(which is huge plus if you meet Wisconsin). So I would say Ragnar.

This ships has smoke to disengage, More consumables, Faster reload of all consumables, Airborne depth charge, Being cruiser ( people will not usually force you to cap as much as DD ), Has flak clouds, Torpedo While Ragnar is like better concealment and no citadel hitbox as the only upsides

I love Ragnar, but have to say it has a serious weakness: you'll want a dedicated commander. And I really do mean "dedicated" because the tech tree is also DDs. Because Svea is a cruiser, you can reuse a DD commander like Swirski without losing him on your favorite tech ship.

@@Rob.DB. the 30% speed boost makes it insanely good at speed juking. The smoke allows for you to melt DDs, or burn battleships. The torps have higher dom than halland albeit one launcher per side. You have radar as well. What part of it is crap?

Wargaming is sacrificing new players to satisfy old ones. This is just as stupid and OP as all the other radar/smoke ships. Hard enough for an experienced player to play DD around and new players will get wrecked by it. This is bad for the game and will cause the player base to continue to shrink.

Roon is good at kiting away. I play it like a Tier 9 Nurnberg. I don't think it's inherently bad, but you often face higher tier BBs and they can give a serious vibe check.

This ship did not seem to have much battle impact in the way you played it. Farming is definitely something, but it doesn't win games. The damage output is too low to deter and kill other ships and the cap contesting ability is "questionable". It might work in isle hugging style game play, where you are protected, even when uncovered by radar or hydro. Not really impressed by this ship, but I might think otherwise when I get a real good enemy in this ship...
