The future of this Vons on 80th Street is in question because of a proposed merger between Kroger and Albertsons. Tom Wait reports.

They're just swallowing each other up until the last one standing explodes from the extreme gluttony, lol.

Vons and Albertsons are too expensive for me and Ralphs is up there too… Stater Bros guy here.

If the proposed store divestitures were to strong regional operators like Stater brothers, this would be fine. But it seems to be set up to fail. Just like Haggen a few years ago.

Stater Bros is the only non Kroger store in my area excluding Costco or Sams. The got good meats.

I miss stater bros

This is just the final step in Ralphs decades-long series of acquisitions of all competition in Southern California. If you shop there, you are complicit in this.

I hope the merger doesn't happen

Costco doesn't much compete with local grocery. it's more about Walmart and Target.

the Vons in Pacific Palisades are considered as a neighborhood magnet over there hopefully for this merger does not impact that same store
@BC-rc2dqАй бұрын
The Von's in the Palisades is also on the divestiture list. The buyers have a history of monetizing real estate acquired, and little experience with operating retail stores. If the Palisades real estate is owned, clearly there would be more profit in tearing it down and selling it for high density residential.

Maybe they can get rid of some food deserts in less wealthy neighborhoods.

Who cares. Walmart is worse. Also loosen regulations so they can keep the stores. If not then provide assistance for communities to keep them open. There are way bigger companies like Target. Just seems we don't want them to have competition.

Merger is good . Can compete with Walmart, Target, Amazon, Sprout farm . 99 ranch supermarket. Costco , ALDI etc…..
@bojohanconstantlyconfused1386Ай бұрын
Except when you have a Smiths, an Albertsons, and a WallyWorld in a small town..they've already announced the closing of Albertsons. Where's the competition? If you live with many options it's no big deal, but it's awful when you don't. Who should I support now...the huge conglomerate that bought Albertsons or the huge conglomerate that didn't?
@vidaacheampong2563Ай бұрын
It's not because now they will raise the price of groceries even more
