Who’s ready for some POTSIE POWER? 🧂
For the last two years, I’ve participated in the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge, an event created by Nic Novicki to give individuals with disabilities more opportunities in the film industry. Each year, the films highlight a wide variety of creators and stories working within a specific theme. This year’s Disability Film Challenge theme was Buddy Comedy-and who better for that than our friends Potsie and Susan? For this film challenge, creators have five days to create a short film up to five minutes long. Animating my entire short film this year wasn’t Plan A-or Plan B-or even Plan C-but I’m really pleased with how it turned out!
Many thanks to my family and my friend Autumn for helping me with this project by doing some voice acting for me! Autumn and I recorded our lines together, and we spent a lot of time laughing. 10/10, would record Potsie and Susan shenanigans with her again. And many thanks to @nicnovicki and everyone at the @TheDisabilityFilmChallenge for organizing this event and doing so much for all of these incredibly talented creators! This year had some amazing short films, and I highly encourage you to check them out.
For this animation, I used the program Procreate on my iPad and a frame-by-frame animation technique. I have no idea how many frames I drew, but my hand was very sore by the end of the film challenge. 😅 I used DaVinci to line up the visuals and audio (including my own sound effects, something I have never done before and learned a lot doing).
Thanks so much for watching!
