Pottery Basics: Wedging

This video covers the basics of wedging. Wedging is the process of folding clay over and over again against a hard surface. It helps to expel air, make clay more dense, homogenous and actually softens the clay by breaking up thixotropy (gelling or hardening in the bag without water loss over time). I will also try to dispel some myths about wedging and give you the information that you need to work with clays that have been produced with modern clay processing equipment.
