Pottery Experience at Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum | Japan Travel Diaries

The museum was established in 1978 to showcase the history of Japanese pottery found in the area of Owari Province, today part of Aichi Prefecture. The collection ranges from the Jōmon period (circa 10,000 BC - circa 300 BC) to contemporary ceramics produced by some of Japan's most famous potters, detailing Japan's rich ceramic art history.
The Ceramic Craft Studio inside the museum is a must-visit, where you get 2 hours and 1 Kg of clay to make potteries of your choice under the supervision of experts using the same tools that they use. The price includes the room charge, clay and firing costs. Shipping charges will have to be paid extra if you want them to send you the final pot.
