Pottery Kiln Opening June 6, 2024, AMACO, MAYCO, SPECTRUM, Slow Cool Program, SPECIAL PIECE AT END!

Today's video is another KILN OPENING!
It's a Slow Cool Program with top temperature at 2195 degrees Fahrenheit held for 10 minutes and then held at 1900 degrees fahrenheit for 30 minutes. Most pieces are Plainsman 340 or 340S Stoneware! I was hoping for a little more drippiness but with a slow cool and a grogged clay this is what you get! All good! I like most of the pieces!🥳

Oh my, you look absolutely fabulous for 60. Beautiful skin and a beautiful smile. Such a warming, happy presence you have in your videos. And you can ride a great looking motorcycle on top of being so darn creative. Happy potting and birthday for when ever it is. I'm 63 but still feel young on the inside. Absolutely love the birch tree! Work of art!!! Can’t wait to see it lit up on your deck. ( make sure you keep it away from those ball hockey players!! ) also like the “ expresso “ coffee mug at the beginning… too small for a regular coffee for me but could fit two shots of expresso… lol …. Looks great!

Hey Audrey! Yay another Christmas morning!! Love the sayings on the bowls cute! I haven’t gone for peppered plum yet but I’m starting to see nice combos like yours. Ahhhh rainforest yum! Love your work. For the blue underglaze transfer, do you put the white opal on first, or after the transfer? Thanks!

Thanks for your compliment. 😊 I put the underglaze transfer on first, then the white opal. I wanted some cloudy spots, which I did not get, so maybe I should have put 3 coats for the results I wanted. However, I put 2 coats on the rustic vase, and THAT had cloudy spots like I wanted. 🤷‍♀️ Who knows! Heehee!

Hey do you put on kiln wash and then alumina hydrate? How thick is the A/Hydrate application? Thanks PS as always beautiful pieces

Yes, my kiln shelves are kiln washed. I don't know the ratio that I use. I just put enough water in my powder kiln wash to get to light cream consistency. Tha hydrate is just a thin coat. It's very fine powder and spreads easy and goes a long way when you spread it out. All of this does not sound very helpful. Sorry!❤️

@@AudreyLynnStudiosthanks, totally helpful indeed. Understand exactly what to do. I've seen/heard of people using normal fine sand between bisque pieces to help keep their shape etc. Has that been something you've seen or tried?

@@evelynzinnauer348 No. I have not tried that. MY Japanese instructor used that so I do, and I have tried anything else. That's not to say I do everything he did. In fact, I am much more experimental, but THAT I do.
