How long do you let the clay set before cutting?

or it really depends on the temperature of the studio. when my room is about 75°F, I’ll let it sit for 1.5 hours. or you can put it in front of a fan for 20 minutes (ish)

is that clay plastic or leather hard when you form the house?

Leatherhard. I let it dry overnight between boards

@@PotterytothePeople does clay always need to be leather hard for handbuilding?

@@beigeoatsi’ve done handbuilding for about a year now and yes it’s best to be leather hard. if too soft, it will be too floppy. but once again, it’s trial and error. but if you make a handle for a mug, for example, the handle needs to be a bit softer.
