Hi Fern, your ZZ Raven looked so healthy, it just needed a bit of water. It will take quite a while to grow the rhizom back. But you can put the rhizom that you just cut off, in perlite as well. It will start to grow again;) Thanks for the video, loved it as always💚

yoga!! yes girl, i started doing yoga as “exercise” about 5 years ago, and fell in love with all the other aspects of it. i took a 200 hour teacher training course- not because i wanted to be a teacher, but because i wanted to immerse myself in better understanding yoga. then i moved on to get my 500 hour. i still dont want to be a yoga teacher ☺️ but highly recommend learning as much as you can. i realized its not just exercise but its a complete blue print for how to be a person and live life fully. it has helped me IMMENSELY in my journey of healing, and is now the foundation to my mental health work. good on you ✊🏻

I’ve got 3 different setups for my zzs. I’ve got a massive one in a mix of equal parts coco coir, soil and pon and it’s a weed. I water it just a little bit every 10 days (and also have a small space with south facing windows). I have a baby raven zz in pon and it took a while to take off but now it’s growing really well. I have it without a reservoir and drench it every ten days. And another one in a chunky mix that hasn’t done anything for a year. It rotted at one point and regrew its roots but no other growth. I heard from another KZbinr that they like to stay more moist than people typically say and that’s been my experience too. I’m going to be moving the one in super chunky mix to one of the other mixes to see if it helps

I can definitely relate to the rental environment upgrade situation lol. To the point where most of my apartments have been in design flux the entire time I lived there 🤦🏾♀️ especially when I was doing the “have to move due to increased rent” or “relocation due to work” dances every year 🙄 Don’t want to spend too much tailoring that environment to your likings only to leave it, but also don’t want to live in a boring, blank white-walled box for the entire duration of a lease. I’ve been in my current unit a year and a half and still don’t have what’s considered a full suite of household furniture due to the changings of mind 🤣 The struggle

ZZ plants can also be propagated by simply cutting off the leaves as close to stem as possible and simply planting leaf stem end down into soil.
@hollypuckett39312 жыл бұрын
I am so freaking enamored with your tortum. That repot was immaculate and the result is so scrumptious, I can't stand it. As to your ZZ, it will be ok. You can also prop them by single leaves, it just takes longer. This way, expect 6months or longer to see a developing rhizome. I'm a better part of a year into my journey, and we made it far enough to pot up, but nothing more. I actually water all my ZZ plants about every 2 weeks, but definitely at least once a month. Pretty sure I thought the exact same thing about that wrinkle rhizome, too 🤣🌰🥜 Also yes to yoga. It's something I struggle to get myself to do but when I do it, I'm always grateful for the time I gave myself. I've been watching Yoga with Kassandra here on YT and I find her very enjoyable and easy to follow along with, without having to watch her every move 👌

I propagated a zz in perlite/water and I even propagated leaf cuttings and they all have roots and are still alive! But if you eventually wanted a more full plant you could chop it up even more!

I'm glad you've changed your mind on Anthurium, I have as well! I've tried store varieties in the past and have never had good luck, but over the last year and a half I've gotten more into tropical houseplants, philodendron, etc so I decided to try Anthurium again. I started with an Anthurium crystallinum which hasn't done the best because of thrips, ugh, but the two growth points are still alive, have gorgeous roots, and I think I got the thrips under control with the help of Green Lacewings and Minute Pirate Bugs. A little after getting my A. crystallinum I was able to get a seedling A. warocqueanum. That was in December and I started her in a terrarium at 95% humidity and over the last few months I've slowly lowered the humidity until she was sitting out on my plant shelf in my bedroom, which I keep at 65-75% humidity at all times. Almost 4 months later and she's FINALLY given me a new leaf which she's expanding right now. Its already SO big, has the gorgeous veining Queen's are known for, and has a small lobes starting. Probably within the next few leaves she'll have some nice lobes hopefully. The third Anthurium I got was an A. magnificum I got 2 weeks ago, which is HUGE and currently pushing out another big leaf. That one is just in a clear deli cup with sphagnum which I don't mind as I've been able to watch the crazy root growth over the last couple weeks. I'm still figuring out the genus and their quirks but they've been so fun, and I'm glad you're enjoying them too!!
