Yes #2 is my favorite of your favorite tips! There should really be "signs of readiness in parents" rather than signs in children. Cheers to a great video! I think parents often miss the sensitive period because they aren't looking for the true signs.

Definitely! It’s funny because my mum’s generation had us all out of nappies when we were 1 but now the norm is 3 or 4. And I really think this might be one of the main reasons that people struggle so much! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Xx

@@MrsConti Yes! And I have noticed some "new" methods are just going back to what our parents and grandparents did without a clever label for the process.

@@MissJuliesMontessoriMinutes Haha! Yes! I too have noticed these “new” methods popping up! I should’ve written a book too and cashed in! 😂

Jennifer what do you suggest we do with our daughter is will be 3 on 9/20. We started potty training 6-8 weeks ago in prep for preschool and she is rock solid with pee but refuses to poop in the potty. I’m on almost 2 months of nonstop poop in the pants. I hate to go back to pull ups when she demonstrates excellent control with pee.

Hey Claudia! I got you! This is super common.. So this is what you want to do: 1. Choose a weekend you don’t have any plans 2. Like I said at the beginning of potty training, restrict her movement to one main area of your house and stay there with her while she plays 3. Remove her underwear, she needs to be bare bummed for this to work 3. Offer high fat foods like avocado and coconut milk to get her bowels moving 4. Place the potty in a more subtle location to reduce her anxiety about using it in the middle of the room. Place it to the side of the room and you will sit next to it 5. Watch for the potty dance when she needs to go 6. REALLY GENTLY tell her; “it’s ok, you can sit when you’re ready, I’m here with you!” No need to say anything else. Just repeat: “it’s ok, you can sit down, I’m here” but don’t push it and stay calm. 7. Most kids will choose to sit eventually but remain calm even if she has an accident or refuses to sit. 8. She might cry but just comfort her and tell her it’s ok, you are here with her 9. Don’t praise but say something like; “ you did it, you pooped in the potty, your tummy must feel so much better now” Let me know how it goes and if you need any more help xx

Jennifer thank you for your reply. I have tried all your suggestions for 2 days and she is hysterical sitting on the potty. Do you agree it’s time to back off?

@@claudiamercier8335 I wouldn’t go back to nappies/ diapers if that’s what you’re asking and I wouldn’t force her to sit on the potty. I would maybe buy a toilet insert and give her the option of sitting on the potty or using the toilet- giving her a choice will empower her. It can be very emotional for children. It is uncomfortable and scary for them so, let her decide. If she poops on the floor, (and be ready for that), don’t worry and if she cries, just be there for her and empathise with her, comfort her. It will come, it’s only 2 days. Isla took quite a while to be comfortable with pooping and there were some tears too because it is a new and strange sensation for them. It’s normal. X
