My daughter is 28 months and has so many accidents in her pants if I don’t make her sit on the potty every thirty minutes or so. She would self initiate while naked but now with pants I have to tell her and she fights me on it every time. If I gently remind her, she’ll just have an accident and I don’t want her to think having accidents in her pants is the new norm.. did you ever struggle with this?

My babysitter started potty training my 2 year old this week. I agreed to get her help before finding out about the OCPT method. Her method is completely different. She is overprompting, using rewards, bribery, basically all the things the book said not to do. It's been 4 days and my daughter has been peeing in her potty with a few accidents. She did her first poop in the potty yesterday. However, I do sense some resistance. I'm thinking about taking over with the OCPT method going forward. My dilemma is whether I should stop PT completely and hit the reset button. Would love to get your thoughts.

we are on block two and the fourth of july is coming up. should we continue to stay home since it is still early in this block (day7 all together or day 5 in block 2) or go to a friends party? and should we put on diapers or deal with the accidents? just not sure if we should add complexity

I had this same issue recently since we are potty training my second daughter right now. I would say go and bring a change of clothes! They might surprise you!

Any advice on how to get them to start pulling their shorts down? My daughter is 24 months and going potty without accidents but she fights me on pulling her shorts down.

I always tell my daughter I’ll just start it for her and she can do the rest by herself. Just make sure you follow through with what you say and let her do some of it! You can also remove some of the power struggle by offering some other choice. “Ok I’ll push your shorts down. Do you want some paper or a wipe for after the potty?” Or “Do you want to show Bear or Elmo how you can peepee in the potty?”

Did 4 days of Block 1. Now we are on day 4 of block 2 (8 days altogether ;-) )and the accidents are increasing. Should we move back to Block 1 or keep going?

During block two: How do you deal with small outings? Such as appointments, grocery shoppings? Sometimes we need to get out of the house 😅 and i'm not sure how to deal with that. Do you bring the potty with you in the car🚗? Thanks for sharing 👍 😊

Yes, I do bring it in the car! For the commando stage, I went for a lot of loose fitting shorts. The idea is that it doesn’t FEEL like a diaper. I also put a towel under her in the stroller early on, just to be super sure. 😂

How long did the whole process take you? I work as a teacher but off over summer, I hope I have enough time!

Probably about a month until we were going out with solid confidence! I scheduled my dedicated potty training time over my school break, too!

Block 2..When you went out, did she continue to be commando?

She did, but I put loose fitting shorts in her so she wasn’t totally bottomless. The looser, The better!

What do you do in the grocery store if your not near the restroom should I bring the small potty inside or what? I offered it before we went inside but once inside she had to go. I’m also having issues with getting to her fast enough to help when she says pee pee for example when getting out of the car seat I was parking so she just went on herself.
