Pouakai Crossing, Egmont National Park, New Zealand | 4K

This video covers two trips. I wanted to do the crossing late September but due to amount of hard packed show and ice I had to turn back. I unfortunately left my crampons at home. Came back in November and this time made it all the way through.
Trail is well formed and very easy to follow. There are long sections with boardwalks. Expect to see even more as there is ongoing track upgrade work.

Thank you for taking the time to walk to the Tarns! I’ve heard & seen so many pictures of the place even though I have lived in NP for numerous years years & haven’t got the stamina or inclination to bother climbing up the mountain, because I know I’d run out of puff!😃🙃😅

My first attempt was early spring but couldn't get across due to snow and ice, didn't take crampons with me. That's first part of the video. Second attempt was is summer when snow and ice were completely gone.
