First thing I look at is air filter and see if it has a NGK plug It’s surprisingly the main reason or the fuel lines or purge ball Easy to fix and parts are cheap

This is a great video, but you completely omitted what I was looking for. My priming bulb failed and my fuel lines failed. I followed what you did here, but nowhere in this video does it show hose routing to the carburetor or to the priming bulb. At one point, you describe it, but which side of the carburetor does the large hose from the tank with the filter attach to, and exactly which side of the priming bulb connectors goes where. As I understand it, the priming bulb has a built in check valve, meaning flow direction is critical. Some other videos on KZbin talk about the large fuel line from the tank with the filter going straight to the priming bulb, then back to the carb, then back to the tank ... but I think these are using a different style carburetor, and everything is super confusing without the proper fuel line routing being shown. Also, my Poulan Pro 260 has a plastic fitting over the low and high jet screws. You don't address this, and no idea how to set the jets given that I think that somehow this plastic jet screw cover needs to be removed to make the adjustments. Great video, but missing critical components for a successful repair.

On any 2 cycle small engine. The screw closest to the engine is the 'L' screw. It adjusts the low speed mixture. So if it bogs when trying to throttle up, it needs more gas, so it would need to be turn clockwise to add fuel or counter clockwise to decrease. The screw farthest from the engine is the 'H' Screw. It's the high speed screw. So it adjusts the engine to it's highest rev by turning it clockwise to lean it. Once highest rpm is found the turn it counter clockwise so not to make it too lean.

I was talking to a small engine repair shop owner in the family and he stated, confidentially, that 70 to 80 % of small engine problems were the result of bad or old gas, and wrong mix of the fuels. The first thing I do is buy new gas an mix it to the value stated on the machine before I start to troubleshoot!

Bad or old gas causes multiple problems. Gummed up carburetor and fuel filter, rots fuel lines, deteriorates primer bulbs ect, ect. Old gas usually forms water and really starts to eat up everything.

Nice explanation on how to get the lines in the tank and the detail of rebuilding the carburetor but ultimate fail on explaining how the lines actually connect to the bulb, tank and carburetor. Many videos contradict the larger line having the fuel filter attached. You were so close to having a great video.

The line with the filter comes out of the tank on the right side, then to the right side of the carburetor. Out of carburetor on the left to the primer bulb. Then out of the primer bulb back into the tank

A tiny bit of silicon grease on the fuel filter connector makes it slide on easily. Just don't use too much or it will slide off easily, also!

I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzbin.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

Unless the carb has an air inlet on the filter side that adds air to the gas for atomization enhancement any air filter breakdown cannot get into the inside of the carb. Only get sucked thru into the cylinder.

That carb look's nothing like the carburetor on my 4218 p.p.l can not get to one of the end cover screws with a Phillips head screwdriver.

I was looking to the same also. On my poulan the fuel filter is on the small line which was hooked into the lower right side of the carb. The thicker line just lays in the tank but not on the bottom. The primer bulb has a long and a small black attachment that the line goes on...this is where I'm stuck at....these lines were dry rotted and fell apart. I may have to find another video that shows the correct way. Wish you could have taken the primer bulb and connected the line or made a line schematic.

In a nutshell the thinner line from the fuel tank is the fuel line and has the filter in the tank and goes to the pump side of the carb. The thick Line is the return line and goes from the center connection on the primer bulb to the tank. The last thin line is also a return line and runs from the metering diaphragm side of the carb to the primer bulb. When you pump the primer bulb on the chain it sucks air/fuel out of the metering diaphragm side of the carb and pumps it back into the fuel tank. This suction from the primer ball draws the fuel through the carb.

Confused! The vent line, larger hole, sets in tank with a plastic stop up inside of tank with no extra hose.The fuel filter line is in a smaller hole and it needs extra to lay in tank. Crazy, but I have the same saw and it is routed this way. If the routing is your way then it came from the factory wrong. Enlighten me. Very detailed video. Walbro tech said not to force air into carb jets it is will unset the small o ring seals. Maybe you did not, it is recommended not to us air pressure. I am learning about all types 2 cycle items and have a lot to learn. 4 cycles a different process.

Ran new lines all work great ran it for a couple hours with purge bulb cycling gas great put the saw up 2 days later tried the saw the purge bulb is stuck in it's like there are in the line now happened 2wice any ideas

Check the primer bulb it's self without the lines. Then if that's not it, try pulling off the fuel filter. If those are not the cause then it will be the carburetor. Check the screen inside the carb and make sure it is not stiff.

Funny on my saw some one installed the bulb between the filter and the right side of the carb to pump the fuel into the carb and ran the return straight to the top of the tank. the saw would start and run for 30 seconds then stall and not start again.

that is because it ran on the fuel the bulb push into the carb and then it stalled because it couldnt draw anymore fuel past the bulb. the carb on these use a pulse from the engine to act as a fuel pump and help regulate the amount of fuel sent for each cycle. This pulse cannot have any restriction in the fuel line because it isnt very strong, so the pressure needed to open the one way valve in the bulb is more than it is capable of exceeding thus starving the engine of fuel.

Basically I did exactly what he did but I’m not sure if your supposed to or not but I sprayed both fuel lines with WD40 and they slid right here in there. Everything goes in better with lube. 😂

I usually drill them out to fit the same fuel line as the bigger one. I believe I usually used 3/16 line. If you can find it, I'm pretty sure that the small line is 1/8". I can't remember if it is Lowe's or home depot, but one of them sells a poulan fuel line kit that has the small line and the larger line and a filter I think.

I have the poulan pro 4218avx. What I dont understand is the recoil assist spring. I replaced the whole kit and the new one does the same famn thing. It gets stuck, the assist spring gets deformed and you're back to square one in 5 mins.

I just need to know where to put the gas into the chainsaw. I bought a PoulanPro PR3816 today. Do I just pour it in to one hole? There are silicone "pipes" all throughout the inside where I looked and don't want to screw it up. I know more about lawn mowers. On the manual there is something about bar oil and gas, but I have a 50:1 pre-mixture that I bought with the chainsaw today. So what am I supposed to do? Do I have to buy something else? Do I just use what I have? I need some help. I have all the other answers I need but this one. And yes I know what I'm doing otherwise. I'm a strong independent black woman and I don't need no man, I will never depend on a man again. The only thing is I just have a question if someone could tell me what to do about this gas and oil thing? That's all. Thanks, friends! I gotta cut some trees down! No sense in paying crooks to do what I can do for my mother myself!

There Is a cap on the side. One on the front and one on the back. The one on the back is for the gas. The premix is good. Front is for the bar oil. You must have bar oil or it will mess up the saw.
