Mine had the same problem! I also found a piece of the head gasket in the crankcase on mine and decided to get a gasket just to see if I could get the thing running again. The gasket is just a weirdly shaped o-ring. When I took the head off, I found the ring seized onto the piston and it was completely worn out too. Looking up the part numbers, I learned the same thing you said too; Craftsman, Poulan and Husqvarna all have the same part numbers for the engine components. It was a fun project for me because I've never done any of this kind of work before. Now I have a poorly running old blower. lol I think there's something wrong with the carburetor. It was videos like yours that got me interested in trying to fix this thing so, thanks for the content! I love this stuff.

Nice find. While I was checking my bolts because of a no start issue I found the plastic crankcase cover had a hole in it worn through by the crankshaft which is never going to draw fuel. I noticed how dry the plug and cylinder was while troubleshooting so thanks for pointing in the right direction.

Ditto on the find you found. Yes, unfortunately they passed on craftsmanship everywhere they could on these blowers.

my poulan was rattling like a bitch and I had to tighten the same bolt. A few months back it happened again. Added thread lock and its been tight for about a year. Cheers!

Do you know the size of the Allen wrench you used? I have the craftsman. I’ve rebuilt the carb, replaced the ignition module/coil, and can’t get it started either. Frustrating the piss out of me.

Sorry to hear that. That's very aggravating. I'm sorry but I don't remember the allen wrench size. Hopefully you'll get it going
