I know that this may be off topic, and some may already know this, but, I put baking soda in a pan that I'm soaking in soapy water, that has something burned on the bottom, leave it for an hour and it reduces scrubbing.

Yes, I do the same. And I also drizzle dawn dish soap and place dryer sheets in pan or whatever is burnt and then add a lil water to absorb all the burnt residue and/or grease. Let it sit overnight.

I also use Rubbing Alcohol, I spray it on my mattress and pillows weekly when I change the bedding. In addition to baking soda on the sofa I also spray alcohol. Alcohol kills bacteria that causes odor. If the above doesn't work on furniture I also steam clean. This also works on dry clean only blazers. I steam clean inside and outside. Then spray with alcohol and hang on a hanger on the shower curtain bar to dry thoroughly so it doesn't smell like alcohol wearing outside also airs blazers and outerwear.

We use the Arm and Hammer carpet cleaner powder from the Dollar Tree. 14 yr. old dog. I use a Tupperware container with holes for fridge baking soda. Pour the old baking soda down drains. TKS

Here's a tip I picked up years ago from Kim and Aggie's tv show.If it is white or cream coloured leather use a bar of toilet soap e.g.lux.fairy.palmolive etc.Make a good lather with warm water and srub gently with a cloth.Leave for a few minutes and then rinse well with clean cloths and clean warm water.Make sure to rinse off well.If it is genuine leather I guarantee it will not go hard or crack.I did this on cream coloured suite and it looked beautiful for 15 years til I sold it.For black or brown suite you use saddle soap.Hope this helps.Dont ever be tempted to use wipes.

I use cold water and blot the area with a wash cloth. Then put a dry towel over it and press down to absorb the water. You could also try spot remover:)

If you don't have carpeting, as I don't, a hand held one works well. Also, a friend or neighbor would probably loan you theirs for a few hours. If not, some non-profit stores sell used donated items. Good luck, there's always a way.

I would take the cushions outdoors and whack them (the way they used to remove dust from rugs) to remove the baking soda. If the cushion covers will come off, then it would be easier...shake them thoroughly. If you have removable cushions, then putting them outdoors for a while on a sunny day can take care of a lot of odor issues. Another thing, if you have darker cushions and receive a newspaper...spread the newspaper over the cushions at night or when you go out of town. A fairly fresh newspaper will absorb odors. I wouldn't use one on a light colored couch, because I would worry about the ink getting on the fabric.

You can also wash them in your machine with about a half cup to a full cup of white vinegar and it will take out any musky or mildew smells. I’ve forgotten clothes in the washer for a couple of days and you think they smell okay until you are wearing them and your body heat will activate that nasty musky odor in a few minutes. Imagine being away from home when the clothes you’re wearing start to smell musky, that would be truly embarrassing. So if you ever do leave clothes in the washer, just rewash the load of clothes with your laundry detergent and white vinegar then dry and they’ll smell great again. I know it’s frustrating having to Re wash them but trust me, you can not take a short cut in that situation.

Not always a good idea. Fabrics have a cleaning code and sometimes it’s solvent only. Your couch usually has a tag under the cushions on the base of the sofa that will tell you how to clean it. I have washed my cushion covers before and I put them back on the foam when damp . The fabric label said mild soap and water.
