This is an amazing rendition of this song from a technical standpoint. Compared to the Def Leppard version: 1. The increased tempo is a nice touch. The song goes from a pole-dance anthem to a fun-loving song that I can see hearing at a summer pool party. 2. The lead and bass guitar riffs are cleaner and add a funky sound. I love the running bass that sounds like something out of a Cake song. Really, all of the instruments sound better due to more advanced production than the 80's i.e. The drums don't sound like they're banging trash cans. I can't knock Def Leppard for that. 3. Dan's vocals are better in every way!!! Dan isn't an crappy singer from an 80's hair band. I can't stand Def Leppard's singer. I'm probably alone in thinking that, but oh well. Also, Dan is simply a damn good singer. My only complaint is that I think the bass should be louder. It's a personal preference, but I think that would enhance the song. Cake cranks up the bass volume and it works for them. I get it though. Dan's voice is main attraction and NSP doesn't want to mess with that. Like Cake, NSP prioritizes the sound of their best musician (Dan for NSP and the bass guitarist for Cake). If you want to hear what I'm talking about with Cake, listen to their War Pigs cover. The bass player does work! Also, it's simply a dynamite song.
