Love this technique. And like your clever use of old forks as mixers.

If you put on one single thin layer and let it dry of any color, then pour your colors in layers in a cup, then pour the layered glazes over your bisque, it will run better. I have done this for 7 years.

I didn't expect to watch an experimental glazing video at 23h and get a giggle out of it. 😂 You have a new follower. "If it looks like I am sweating is because I am, it's 32degrees here....I am not made for this" 😂😂😂 if I had my doubts, now I know 100% you are Dutch ❤. Hi from Amsterdam

These glaze combinations are just wonderful and such a simple technique. You're so talented. Post firing ~ ooohhh!! They're GORGEOUS. Irregularity and 'imperfect' only adds to their artistic appeal deals. It's absolutely fine.

Maybe if you wet the bisque with a damp sponge right before you pour the glaze on, it might swirl around more evenly. Just a guess :-)

Hi Calder, great video, as usual! Thanks! Oolites form in Amaco's Celadon glaze formulas over time and will not melt when fired. You can sieve them out before glazing, (80 mesh is best) or after the glaze is dry, brush or pick them off before firing. Thanks again for your videos! Always inspiring.

I’ve had issues with marigold being too thick. I just add water to thin it, never had a problem doing this to any brushing glaze. It’s good to see you again, welcome back 💗

Yes, you can always add water if a glaze is too thick, but I only realized it was too thick after I had already poured it in😅 Thank you!🤗

Don't throw out that glaze!!! Let it dry and break it into chips that you can put on a wet layer of glaze for a confetti effect

You will see more of the lines between the different glazes on a plate as the glazes will not run down. You could try thinning the glazes with water for easier pouring. If you let the glaze run off the edges then you only have to paint the back and you have a finished piece.

@caldervanandel
@caldervanandel 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I think that's the case, then the glaze would melt and blend less, which will make the lines sharper, just like the bottom of the bowl with the botz glazes😊

I Calder! :-) I am enjoying your pouring glazes video but can you please tell me what you said at footage 4:00 after you said “…those Amaco glazes fire at cone five and six,”….. what did you say after that? About low fire glazes? I keep listening to that sentence over and over and can’t figure out what you said.

Hi Calder, I enjoyed watching your experiments very much. As I´m new here please forgive me, if it was said before, but what type ( brand, volume etc.) of kiln do you own and can you recommend it?
@caldervanandel
@caldervanandel Жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm glad you liked my video! I use the NABERTHERM TOP 60, which is a 60L kiln. It work quite good, but maybe a kiln that is a bit smaller would work better, cause this one does take quite long to fire. But it also depents on how much you are going to want to fire :)

Another great informative video. Thanks for sharing. Love the glaze pouring. I find the celadons don't blend as well as the Potters Choice does. I am a passionate hobby potter and mostly self-taught so videos like yours are very helpful. Keep cool and I look forward to your next video. Greetings from South Africa.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you found it helpful. The celadons indeed blend way less, I think I'm going to try it again and add some more water, so that I can mix it a bit more before firing it🤗

Hi ik heb een vraagje ik ben op zoek naar een emmer witte of ivory onderglazuur glans. Heb jij enig idee waar ik heb deze kan kopen? Of maak jij een emmer vol zelf van poeder pehatine en water? Ik hoor graag.
@caldervanandel
@caldervanandel 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, ik snap niet helemaal of je opzoek bent maar witte glazuur of onderglazuur? Ik heb zelf maar 1 emmer met glazuur en die glazuur heb ik in losse potten gekocht. Met poeder is het vaak wel goedkoper :)
@DuoPenrose
@DuoPenrose 2 жыл бұрын
@@caldervanandel ok dan ga ik ook maar met losse potten een behoorlijke hoeveelheid maken. Met kwasten krijg je niet altijd een mooi egaal resultaat met dompelen wel.

If you moisten the bowl before pouring, the glazes will run better. TIP from another potter's channel
