What your comments about the Batch plant and the dispatcher makes me feel appreciated. I dispatch concrete here in Indiana and I rarely get praise. I don't claim to know everything, but in most cases I can prevent issue not create them. Asking questions and communication is key in this industry. Thank you for putting together can wonderful group of videos. That show the viewers the correct way to do a job. It's nice to watch someone who still has pride in what they do.

Well, I will try and add to the appreciation because the local concrete companies here are night and day to deal with, and it almost entirely comes down to the high quality of one's dispatchers over the "meh" attitude of the others'. So thank you for taking pride in your work.

I'm a concrete finisher from Michigan. Our dispatcher takes good care of us and that is a big deal. Helps the day run smooth when you can get mud when you need it and on time. 👍

Regarding the "crew experience" commentary, I agree with you. My measure has always been the end of day clean up. The crew is all tired, so the banter has subsided. It is almost silent, everyone knows what has to be done and just goes about the tasks and before you know it, everything is where it should be, ready for tomorrow. And if it is the right site, on a Friday afternoon, there might be a cold glass of beer for your efforts

One thing you learn in the contracting business is that you will never know everything there is to know. Every day almost without fail you can learn something you never knew before simply by watching and observing how professional people do their job. And this is what is accomplished simply by watching your great videos. I have learned an awful lot just by being here to watch. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to bring these videos to us. "Know your crew and be prepared"..and you and Dustin have that covered. I worked 40 years in commercial construction, 30 here in Eugene. I've enjoyed watching your videos, and especially appreciate, and agree with, your comments about the mechanical skills, craftsmanship, and artistic abilities, required of the various trades. I hope that Dustin has been able to find, train, and retain, a crew that he can his love of his trade on to. Cement finishers are one of the least appreciated trades, and it takes tremendous skill and perseverance to make a career of it.

@@jx14aby Coming early (5:00 AM) is typical as to try and prep the site for the arrival of the concrete truck(s) which is usually schedule for as early as possible to try and beat any weather challenges for the day. Many concrete contractors (to include professional tradesman) do good to great work, especially when being recorded and posted. I've been watching Essential Craftsman for some time and I truly enjoy watching and listening to Scott speak about the craftsmanship of the so many trades involved with the construction of a home.

Mr. Scott, I am 35 years old, married to wonderful woman and have 3 daughters. My father was a superintendent for a drilling company growing up, and my background is oil & gas. I was a field engineer for Baker-Hughes for many years. When I decided I wanted to work closer to home, I took a job as a millwright for a local saw mill. I’ve only been doing that about 6 months now. I am enjoying it very much. My youngest has shown an interest lately in learning how to weld and I am just loving it. Anyone who has ever poured concrete, even the smallest amount, knows how difficult that job is. Especially the back is heavily loaded. This crew is exceptionally skilled. I would blindly trust them with all my concrete work!

Man these guys aren’t even construction workers. They’re gosh darn Picassos of concrete! My father is a stone mason and he does a few concrete jobs here and there once in a while. I’m 22 and I’ve been working with him ever since I’ve graduated high school , and out of all the things a mason has to do concrete is one of the hardest jobs, in my opinion that is. And seeing how people like these guys handle it sure makes it enjoyable to watch and it always makes me appreciate their skill, talent and hard work they put into their jobs. Thank you for uploading these type of videos, they really inspire me to be a better worker

Tried to do exposed before . There was wood chips in the mix . The plant offerd to pay to have it demolished. Or give it free . So it was free. The wood ended up having a purple color to it for some reason. You did an absolute professional job. Keep up the good work.

As a retired general contractor, I agree with everyone that these concrete guys rank as some of the best. But I have to add that the camera work and editing are just as top notch. Mate I've been on the tools for ten years and as most tradies know, every day is a school day. I've learned a great deal over this series having only found it recently. Great to see how things happen across the pond also. Very different to how the jobs go in Ireland for many reasons (time pressure included as we're a small place so land must be filled at a much higher pace to offset cost [again location specific] ) but nothing beats a crew who know what they're at. Love the series and looking forward to seeing the end result. Keep her lit (an Irish plough on and keep going in case it's lost in translation) and best wishes!

I have learned most of what I know about concrete from this channel, and especially this spec house series. From the storage facility videos, shop expansion, exposed entry, and the early spec house retaining wall and footing videos I have learned about mix designs, ordering trucks and pumps, forming, power trowels, how to manage big slabs etc. all the details that arent readily apparent to someone with just a basic knowledge of concrete finishing. In the time from those videos to now, I have grown my skills, tackling really small jobs and gradually increasing the level of work as my confidence grew, eventually adding an entirely new aspect to my business and now about 1/3 of my work is concrete related. That is in no small part thanks to you and the knowledge you share on this channel.

I have piddled about with concrete work when I've had to - footings, small foundations, piers and flatwork. Turned out fine, but then I was never so dense as to attempt exposed aggregate. This crew was amazing to watch. Some people look down on the trades, but watch these guys. A bunch of burly and (to me) young men molding stone. Physically demanding work, but they are putting the care into that finish that you'd expect if they were icing a wedding cake for the ultimate bridezilla. This is true artistry and professionalism in action. Loved the curved control joints, too. Scott, you are spot on when you said that the measure of a crew is in them not needing to instruct or correct each other. Dustin and his guys have perfected that rare thing - making a tough job look like a finely choreographed dance. Kudos to them.
