to create cells we often use silicon oil or Dimithicone. you need to clean it of before Varnish as it will otherwise have wholes. I shown here 3 options. no guarantee.
- cornstarch, talk, baby pourer
- alcohol
- dishsoap
always make sure it's properly cured ( 2 weeks ). after cleaning use clear water to finish it and let it dry another day or two before Varnish. if you see any colour coming off then stop. there is no guarantee.

Hi. My name is Santana Hagedorn ans artist for acrylic paint pouring and fluid art from the Netherlands. This form of abstract and modern decorative painting is done with Acrylics brought to the right consistency with various pouring mediums, oils and additives. By moving the paint layers, playing with different tools or adding heat I create different effects. Very messy and very fun. The Paintings can be don't know canvas, MDF frames, tiles or other flat surfaces. Can also be used to make daily items and gifts unique f.ex. little boxes or ornaments.
If you like my art and would like to purchase or custom order feel free to contact me via comment, email, Facebook or Instagram

Thank you very much! I haven't seen any other video that talked about cleaning poured paintings and had no idea that cleaning is even necessary. I have a few cured poured paintings that I will clean later today with dish soap and warm water. Thanks again!

Yep - dish soap and warm water does the job - I would let the painting dry at least 4 days before cleaning - I use soft cloth to wash and paper towels to dab it dry. I have found that black sometimes bleeds when you wash it although it might have been the brand of paint I used. Treat the paint surface gently and you should be ok.

You need to cure it 3 weeks. Only then the paint reaches maximum surface hardness.

Thank you so much. I'm new to this and didn't realize the downfall of silicone. I figured dish soap and water but wanted to research more and am glad to see it's a hopeful method. If it doesn't work out well I'll be sure to comment!

thanks so much i have been leaving the cornstarch powder for a about 5 days.. then cleaning off with soapy water.. rinsing and drying for a week.. i also spray the backside of the canvas (inside the wood) with water and let it dry to tighten up the canvas if its loose or saggy.

anna c sounds like a very good plan. I only don't like the cornstarch myself as o gets sticks in possible air bubbles wholes. But if it works for you perfect

Hallo Santana / folks. How about a vigorous spray with window cleaner, washed off under a warm shower, then dryed? Two more questions please. Do fluid artists progress to resin art? Does a resin varnish work on acrylic paintings on canvas?
@PouringArtExperience
@PouringArtExperience 6 жыл бұрын
Haven't tried windows cleaner. You can do resin art or not has nothing to do with progressing. Yes you can put resin as a varnish over a clean pour. Check out the other videos

Thanks! Does this get the surface of the canvas fully flat again with none of the craters left?
@PouringArtExperience
@PouringArtExperience 7 жыл бұрын
+IAMGiftbearer you're only removing silicone. Your not adding anything. So if you have craters or puddles you'll get the silicone out but has nothing to do with the paint.

Well for sure you need to clean it. Normally after 3 weeks but then donit after 2. Really well! Video on my channel too for soap which is best. Then leave 2 days to dry and then varnish. Dont wrap it air tight and use like wax paper on top for protection as it wont stick.

is it necessary to varnish your paintings? what kind of varnish do you use? what kind of silicone do you use? thanks
@PouringArtExperience
@PouringArtExperience 7 жыл бұрын
+peggy thompson it depends on you if you want to Varnish or not. It protects your painting and makes the colour pop. I use 100%silicone oil or Dimithicone. I'll make a video about varnish options soon
