They have the same buses at Disney World. I always loved riding back to the resort from the park late at night and listening to that engine

This my 1st time listening to a Gillig Hybrid. We have DE40LFs and Nova Artic Hybrids with the addition of 40 foots. Thanks for sharing and whip that bus!

Hey man, brings back memories from driving the night buses!! I guess things are pretty quiet because of the virus. Do UMD still have Phantom Gilligs or do they have all low floor Gilligs now? I see the campus has grown tremendously since I was there!!! Class of 2007!! Go Terps!!!

Great to hear from an alum! We still have five of the eight Phantoms still in service. I'll have to get my hands on them soon because I haven't driven them in ages and love the way they drive haha.

Amazing that after all these years those Gillig wipers don’t clear that right side to get full view of the mirror. I drive 2018/19 Gilligs and still the same engineering/design flaw.

Hey man, great channel and videos. Just subscribed! I used to ride a lot of these Gilligs when I lived in Rhode Island. Question, how does the driver operate the turn signals? I always saw the indicator on the overhead display, but never saw a switch. Keep it up, these are great videos!
@eugew233 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The turn signals and the high/low beam function are actually foot controlled. The left foot switches are pretty common on transit buses!

@@eugew23 thanks for the quick reply, I kinda figured that, but never could find anything online for it, was wondering how the worked and self-cancelled. Cool stuff man. Keep up the drives, whatever you’re driving!

I used to think so too, but have grown to appreciate the hybrid powertrain. Driving those smoothly can be an art.

Never driven anything with an Allison transmission . I’m assuming ‘F’ is the same as ‘D’.
@eugew234 жыл бұрын
It appears to be that way for the hybrid only. I don't know the spec of which system it is, but on B400Rs and similar, they just indicate gear numbers.
@brandonkillingbeck40184 жыл бұрын
Allison hybrids will display F for forward where as the diesels and I think CNG as well will display gears when in drive. I've driven Gilligs with Allison, Voith, and BAE Systems. For diesels, I prefer Allison. For hybrids, I prefer BAE Systems.
@GilligBusOperator4 жыл бұрын
@@brandonkillingbeck4018 The Gilligs are diesel that I drive and all currently have Voith . The love the power of the retarders but the damn buttons on the shift selector pop off so easily so it kind of hurts to change gears (Reverse, Drive, Neutral). They have 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears but are rarely used .
@poohmaster543 жыл бұрын
For the Allison Hybrid Drive, the module will show "F" for "Drive". The arrows don't control the gears but instead controls the auxiliary braking levels. The "up" button is for increased braking power and the "down" button will return the level to normal.
