If that is outside of Kingston, NY, take the drive around the Ashokan Reservoir. Just as good is further west, from Margaretville, take the roads that go around the Pepeacton Reservoir.

Excellent choices all. One of my favorites is Rt 212 between Woodstock & Phoenicia. Another 2-lane that rewards the senses without the traffic and no high speeds needed.

@@FlashDriveFilms That's good too but I think parts of 212 between Bearsville and Phoenecia are under construction and the road is closed. At least it was 3 weeks ago when I passed that way.

You should also try Rt 23A between Palenville and Haines Falls, It gets very windy and hilly while going around Kaaterskill Falls which was made famous in a Thomas Cole painting from the mid-1840s. We are talking hairpin turns on a mildly steep incline.

That's another excellent example. Then at Tannersville, take Rt 42 back towards Rt 28 for a terrific combination of twists and straights. But best done with a top down or at least a sunroof open.

@@FlashDriveFilms Know that route very well. Have a residence in the Spruceton Valley in Greene County and I can only access it thru Rt 42. I also recommend Rt 214 between Phoenicia and Tannersville/Hunter Mountain.

Actual honest truth: sun was behind me and reflecting off the speedometer glass right into my eyes at certain points. The camera was at a different height so it doesn't show as much , but I was getting seriously blinded on some turns. (I can't imagine what people do when they put those chrome rings around the gauges. The glare would drive me nuts.)
