Got to love RAIN! In the last 30 days we have gotten 10 inches of rain which is 4 times what we normally get. I have a video coming up where I had to mow after it rain for 4 days and in a few spots I was bring up mud in the grass. It made me sick to the stomach doing it but I didn't have a choice and the homeowner was ok with it. Great Video

Does your mower of have a flap you can close so it doesn’t blow grass(mulch setting)? Pay attention to where you’re blowing grass with the mower like going around tree rings the right way, if your mower has the flap you can shut then shut it in those situations cause sometimes you do have to a certain way and what direction you’re going with the trimmer along beds and the house. You’ll save yourself time blowing cause you won’t have to blow all the beds out and blowing grass out of mulch is messy plus most customers don’t like grass in their mulch/ rock beds. Just a tip not trying to knock you down. Good video though

Hey me again lol...the prick from another video who commented...I apologized so hopefully u got it lol...anyway just a tip. From what I see and correct me if I'm wrong, the grass is pretty level and or a touch higher that the SIDEWALK. So ELIMINATE FLAT TRIMMING YOUR EDGES ALL TOGETHER... Just run your tire or deck just over the edge and boom ur done. No need to flat trim the edges just the objects...there is nothing more stable than the deck...set it and it stays for the most part...everything gets cut level...trim it and u risk burnout, and yellow edges when u coulda avoided it. Also it saves time and u can direct that time toward something else. Also I notice u trim pretty close to things. You have 12 to 20 inches if line depending on the trimmer. So why get so close? Keep it away and just hit it with the tip of the line. The closer u get, the more the line bounces of the object, inturn either wrecking it or getting an uneven cut with the trimmer. So not chirping you at all. Just giving you some friendly advice, one Landscaper to another. 18 years under my belt and legitimately know what I'm talking about. Also if no stones are on the sidewalk so pre blow...mount the sidewalk with the deck...drop it down a quarter to half inch lower than u cut. Hang the deck edge over on the lawn about 6 inches down both sides...then raise the deck to cut height and cut...BOOM FLAT TRIMMING IS DONE!!!! OR a bit of a beveled raised edge into a curb. Put one tire on the grass and one on the road with the center scalp wheel on the curb...keeping the scalp wheel on the curb as long as it's not too much of an angle, will stop the blade from hitting, but will also FLAT TRIM your curb edge. I wouldnt even say these things if I hadnt done them...I used to do alot of schools and would always do the fronts...I'd do 4 sat and 5 Sunday with me and 1 other guy. 7am to 5,6,8pm...depended on the time of season...so YES IT IS UNORTHODOX AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS...But in certain circumstances where noone is around, it get the job done...I would suggest it on top notch properties...this is more for business and tougher stuff. Hope it helped...thanks
@CopperCreekCuts5 жыл бұрын
Very good tips on the sidewalk stuff! I flat trim the edges because my 36 has NO overhang on the deck. So either my tire is in the grass and I am missing the very edge or my tire is on the curb and that side is higher. I will try those tips out next time!

Looked as if not enough drainage. You can get seed rot etc. Zoysia is slow growing and is moderate difficulty to grow from seed. Top dressing with sand, or sand and compost mix can help; however, if they decide to renovate, they can till in hydrated lime to stabilize the soil.

New construction? They need to have that yard rolled so it cuts evenly and you can even walk across it better. It might even out over more time but why not do it now while they are trying to sell it. Once a year, I got buy two bottles of that "kills 200 varieties of weeds" over my lawn and that's it. I do it in the beginning of the year. All my neighbors have their lawns treated constantly. So, when it rains good and hard, their lawn water runs over most of mine so I don't have to treat it haha. I mow my lawn at 3 1/2 inches. It looks great. Also, as summer gets hotter, my neighbors lawns that are treated turn brown fast. Mine will stay green a month longer if no rain is constant. People have actually commented quite often and ask "What do you do to your lawn that makes it look so green? Your neighbors look DEAD". I tell them. They mow their lawns SHORT. I mow at 3 1/2 inches and it works fine for me". It's funny. I have seen my neighbors mow at least every 4 days and then you look back and literally see a small dust cloud form behind them and then get into the air. *MORONS*. I mow once a week. Once every 10 days or so if there is no rain. My yard outshines theirs any day of the week. I enjoyed this video. FIRST, you edge and trim FIRST. You might as well get that done with first while you have 100% energy. Then you can "relax a bit" mowing the lawn. People mow, then act like it will kill them to go trim. I've seen people mow, then trim the next day. Oh brother. Secondly and most important, as you trim, you get to walk the property. You can visually scan for any debris that might possibly damage the blades before you even start cutting. I can't tell you how many times I've seen grass get over grown and people jump in with their mowers and hit all kinds of stuff because they were too lazy to walk the lawn seeing what might do harm.

So. In this case because the land it is so saturated with water; I think it would’ve been nice to do the cut with a push mower. It is lighter and the damaged would’ve been a little less. Although it is more hard work 😓 since you would’ve pushed the mower and not stand on it and do it fast. But, it is just an observation. And I am not trying to tell you how to do your job, Sir.
@CopperCreekCuts6 жыл бұрын
You are 100% right! A lighter mower would have done much better. But you are also right it would be harder and more time. I actually don't have a push mower any more, I only do yards that I can manage with my 36". Though sometimes that means yards like this look worse than if I had a push mower. why? no bagger? would that not save all that blowing clean up?
@CopperCreekCuts6 жыл бұрын
Bagging isn't common here in Florida. Clippings biodegrade into the lawn in a matter of days and provide nutrients to the existing turf. Great question, thanks for asking! Also, even if I did bag it doesn't eliminate ALL the dirt/debris on sidewalks/driveways. And if you have to break out the blower for the middle of the driveway where you don't mow, why not just use the blower for everything?

@@CopperCreekCuts great job but I would had preferred if you had just trimmed around the mail box and utility box then used the mower and bagger to finish that is what my neighbors service does nd it looks great easy coast area. I do my own lawn.

In Florida I thought your not supposed to put grass right up again the house like you should put much or stone between the house and the grass.

How much do you charge? I was wanting to know for my small business and what to charge.
@CopperCreekCuts4 жыл бұрын
You need to figure out how much money it will take to pay all your expenses, bills, and profits, then develop a per man hour rate to apply to jobs. Then estimate how long a job will cost and multiply that by your hourly rate.

I would have charged that yard 55 weekly. It would take me 30 min with copper creek great tool set up but it all depends on your area and if you offer other services as well such as fertilizer and weed control exc
