Fav shoot for me was player #1 with the bg like you said. I'm surprised you didn't have to raise your shutter speed higher for the action. I did some last night and mine was at 1200. I shoot canon but still with 70-200 2.8. I will have to try your settings.

Sorry , but you need a longer lens, great lens for close up stuff, but a 300 f2.8 or 400 f2.8 or even a sigma 120-300 f2.8. You also need to get both the ball and players face (s) in the shot, as as for images of players walking away, no good. Also don't worry about grain , increase your ISO and get the shot modern cameras can handle the ISO.

I have a 400mm, But personally, I prefer my 70-200. Also, the camera I have allows me to crop in a lot without losing quality.

Nice video. A few suggestions: 1. For football action shots, i would go with a min 1/1000 shutter speed(to freeze the action and avoid blurry) and compensate w a higher ISO such as 10,000-15,000. 2. Buy DxO PureRaw, which is a fantastic software to reduce noise(it works great). 3. If possible, invest in a 400mm 2.8 lens to get further away shots. As a general rule of thumb for every 10 yards away from the action, you should have 100 mm of lens. As such, in general, a 70-200 lens is good for up to 20 yards away. Keep shooting!

Super true, I noticed a lot of his shots are people just standing. Good for the players instagram profile picture, not great for the photographer's portfolio.

I’m getting a Nikon z 70-200mm 2.8 to pair with my z8 and although it’s a different brand it is the same aspects as any other brand and it’s very reassuring to see your video first hand (specifically football because again it’s a low light situation.. I need a lens with an aperture at least faster than a 3.5 or it’ll be a struggle)with a 70-200mm 2.8 in action so all I gotta say is thank you! I’m going to be doing some HS sports photography and I need a fast aperture so this is very helpful!

Putting your SS on 500 you don’t get a blur image? Since it’s a lot slower than 1/1000
@ReadIcculus9316 күн бұрын
I think 500-800 would still work if its a panning shot. Otherwise 1/500 is plenty for a player walking off the field between 70-200mm. Anything over 200 mm, perhaps 1/800 would be needed.

How do you get your photos so clear at 2000 ISO? My camera goes to all hell at barely anything above 1000. Is there any specific denoising technique or editing software you use?

Hey man! Love your videos!!! Need some advice on starting up. I want to do videography/photography for my sporting niche (boxing/mma/wrestling) you have the A1 which is more then my budget can handle. I’ve been looking at the Sony A7 IV. Would you recommend this?
@DTVprods. Жыл бұрын
I would 100% recommend the A74

Look at the Lumix G9 ii as well.. Great auto focus, excellent stability, almost no rolling shutter, v log, 5.8K Open Gate, great color science, you can record to an external SSD, 120/200/240/300 fps in 1080 & its mft so those Telephoto lens you need are smaller & lighter on the video size.. It's even better on the photography size. Also braw might be in the future bc of the L mount alliance ^_^

You’re definitely good at creating videos, but you’re giving bad advice on shooting sports with your settings and field placement. As a few others here have said, You’re shooting too slow for stop action and you simply don’t have enough lens for football from the spots you’re shooting from. You need to be following closer from the sidelines with that 70-200, the end zone is too far from the action. Invest in glass, glass, glass,…find a used 300mm f2.8. Get your speed up too, at least 1/1000, that means crazy high ISO at those night games, but it is what it is. ✌️

If my settings are bad, how are my photos good? Photography is an art, do whatever YOU like. All I do is tell people how I achieve the look I get. Also, my "bad advice" has helped many photographers " but it is what it is. ✌"
