POV of the ASUS Bezel-Free Kit. Is it worth it? Quick impression video!

Since I get so many questions about the ASUS Bezel-Free Kit I though I'd make a short quick impression video. As with many of these things you definitely have to try them yourself to see if it's something you like or not. I hope I can give a good impression how it looks like with this GoPro POV view.

Love the POV, Dan. Definitely try more of these. My take on the bezel kit is that it’s something I’d have to try to really form an opinion. I’m sure that while driving you’re never really looking at it but when I watch a review all I do is stare at it and notice how it looks…..kinda weird. I’d be interested to try it but it’s expensive for what it is.

When you said 'i hope the camera isn't shaking too much due to high FFB' it actually a better feeling of you being in the car because the camera shakes and matches the car on screen shaking so works great

POV is the best! I was going to do triples then the HTC vive pro 2 got announced. Looks amazing for sim racing. Definitely keep pov content coming! :D

VR is way more immersive, but you have to consider that it's also a lot heavier for your system. And some racesims like ACC aren't optimized for VR. if it works tho, VR is just amazing.

I only know the rig from "the other side" as a twitch viewer but this looks amazing! Looks like it's such a good experience and no wonder it's delightful to stream in that setup because you got everything right at your fingertips (seems to be build that way) and all you'd need is a little chat overlay to interact with viewers and everything is good to go. Amazing setup; I loved seeing it from your pov! Also: first I thought I'll get motion sick from your head moving in the pov recording but actually it was quiet alright.

I recently added bezel kit a month ago and I'm glad I did, it's so much nicer with tirples though alignment is a bit off across the horizon but after a while you tend to just ignore it

Love the POV video and agree with your thoughts. For me, they did not fit properly since the back my 27" monitors are curved. My bezels are fairly narrow and the kit seemed more distracting than the bezels. They do hide the bezels, but it was a bit annoying in normal desktop use. I ended up returning them and getting larger monitors 😂

Dan, another option is a central curved 49 ultra wide then two 27 sides (which can be flat to save some money). Since they are all 1440 high, it works perfectly and with iRacing and a bezel free kit you get the best of all worlds. You get a 180 degree image yet the joins between monitors are in your peripheral vision

The joins are not really a problem though imo. Problems with this solution: - the game will always put the joins at 1/3 and 2/3 horizontal resolution - so you have to render triple ultra wide - side monitors will just be too far away

@@DanSuzuki yes you do need to set the screen width in the INI file to be 3x 5120 so you end up wasting some rendering power but as the side screens are only 50hz ( you don’t need them to be higher for peripheral vision) it doesn’t seem to matter. I find the joins a bit distracting so like having them out of the way but I know what you mean about the distance. Either way having side screens really helps in close racing

This is a bit old. I’m wanting to stream with the GoPro with GoPro mounted on my head. What you’re saying if you set it up for your eye view , then the go pro is higher the bezel will be noticeable, like how you had it. I guess you could compensate for that so the viewers have a better view, but the driver won’t. I’ve been running triples for 10+ years and bezels, what bezels lol

I wish I have the place and the money for a rig like that. I have a 49" ultrawide and no tripple screen but I think the Bezel-Free Kit is worth. Looks good, but i think it works even better when you have 3 wide screens, since the "bezels" are even further away from your focus and more in the periphal fov.

The bezels have never bothered me either but I actually ordered this kit a few days ago as I wanted to give it a go. Really hard to get hold of in the UK and I had to order from Amazon US through Amazon UK so delivery takes a bit longer. Great Video as always and POV is always good fun

Normally they would not release the goods until any required charges have been paid, so it looks like the price on Amazon is the final one

I'm using a 49" Ultrawide with TrackIR and get >180° hFOV while preserving a 1:1 headtracking inside the usual maybe 30° range during cornering. Triples deliver more peripheral vision while looking straight and I would like to have the speed perception, but I hate bezels and wouldn't switch with that setup.

I've never seen any mention anywhere that they only work on bezels up to a certain width. My bezels are 20mm and I wasn't able to get them to work at all but I put them on my mates monitors and they're great.

For me the Asus bezel kit is a mixture of love and hate 😂 hate for the price it costs for only 2 pieces of plastic and which are extremely sensitive! I scratched mine on the first day but it didn't ruin the immersion and love by making the image of the 3 monitors incredibly immersive, and today I can't play without using the asus bezel kit to record my onboards. 👍

I tell my friends about the Sim labs mounts and how great they are. My monitors were perfectly aligned but when i fitted the bezel free kit i needed to adjust them more and as you say it makes its super simple to do but i did think if you have your monitors perfectly aligned and add the bezel kit and then you need to adjust it again doesnt that mean technically without the Bezel kit they would be out of alignment lol because i know 100% mine were perfectly aligned so having to adjust them when the kit was on can only mean you need to knock them out of alignment for it too work 🤣 strange but true.

From the other comments I can see you are running 32" triples, assume you are running 1440p. I am looking at getting triples for my rig however I think my pc will struggle with triple 1440 and so think i should play it safe and get 3 x FHD curved 31.5" - or should i stick to 27" if running in 1080p - 31.5" has pretty poor pixel density, but will run well. My system is Intel Core i5 10600K - Corsair LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200Mhz - WD SN550 1TB - RTX 3070 8GB. Great video, a great advert for bezel kits, especially when you removed it at the end, nice content!

Kit is optimized for 120-130 degree, but with curved displays you normally get more degrees in the joint. Has 130 between monitors, but get a black band. How low do you have to go? 110? Got same monitors as you Dan. Great performance / price. 😉

Tested today and at 115 degrees (at joint) the black band disappears with the G32QC monitor from Gigabyte.

you can tell image is stretched behind the lens, and this is one of the reasons i hated it. 2:25 mark if you look at the blue car on right bezel kit, its all stretched out. Cool quick review

The viewing angle is great, but your head movement is irritating. Maybe if the GoPro is directly left of your head it would be similar, but less shaky

iracing only works properly with 3 screens the same size because it will put the screen „transition“ always at 33% and 66% resolution. Only solution would be to render 3 32:9 screens but that would be good bye fps 😅

Been thinking hard about this but i feel i'm going to get annoyed with it, i dislike even just the smallest misalignment of my screens and i don't mind my bezels anyway. I think that for KZbin it is pretty great but for personal racers its not needed, todays monitors have tiny bezels as is.

Came back to say i decided to DIY my own kit from a 39" LED LCD TV, was able to make the strips down to 4cm, im actually very happy with how these look and also saved myself $200 :)
