Thanks for the video! Love the BRP motors and the rear bucket system - they seem to have superior handling when it comes to lower speeds. Also, interesting that the rear seating does not include the versa lounge/sun deck with every model and that it is an option to add on. I guess not everybody uses their boat the same way.

Great job! Remind me what you have for factory ballast on this boat?

Thanks for watching and the comment/question! The factory ballast on the Scarab 215 totals 1000lbs - I believe the center bag in the ski locker ends up being about 400lbs and then there is one located under the rear seats on both the port and starboard side which are 300lbs a piece. We hope to get one more ballast bag on the rear swim deck/transom platform that would provide an additional 800lbs of ballast. Also, any additional riders in the boat work well for extra ballast.

Great job! What are your thoughts on starboard side surfing. Can you easily adjust the ballast? Looks like a jetwash deflector would help clean up the face of that wake a little.

Yes, absolutely

get rid of the wake shaper on the opposite side. While it may help direct water away the drag it imposes causes you to counter steer to keep the boat straight which points the nozzles right at the surfer. They didnt have the surf stream tabs avail for the boat? That will improve it far greater than anything u try and follows the science behind yamahas wake booster.

Thanks for watching and the comment! Last summer was our first time on the water and experimenting with our Scarab 215 and surfing. After watching many videos and discussing with some other sources, I agree that if a wake shaper is used in the traditional sense (attached to the opposite side of the surfer) on a jet boat it caused the boat to list to the starboard side requiring the operator to counter steer and pointing the nozzles right at the surfer. Unfortunately our boat with WAKE edition came with everything but the surf stream tabs (I really wish we had those). The hope is to make something similar to the Yamaha wake booster or pickup up a jet wash deflector from Jet Boat Pilot: jetboatpilot.com/products/jetwash-deflector-twin-engine-surf-wave-enhancer Also, we may try installing the wake shaper on the same side as the surfer (further up on the hull so it does not impact the wake) causing the boat to list in our case towards the port side which would allow the operator to counter steer the jet nozzles away from the surfer - any thoughts???

@@scarabjetboat i dont think it will really help on the same side. You need the flow around the boat on surf side. What you can do is incorporate the surfpointe angles that yamaha added to their boats after 2017. They pointed the nozzles 1/2 canted in on each side to direct jet wash to the center. Basically you need to adjust the steering cables to each nozzle 3/8 to 1/2" shorter on port side and the same but longer on starboard side. It does help, but you still need added ballast for any of these jetboats to make a decent wave. I run a 850lb fatsac on surfside on top of my included ballast built into the boat. I own a 255xd Yamaha. The jetwash deflector is currently only made for the yamaha type ladder. Id look to see if you can purchase the surf stream tabs separate. They should do the trick, on top of the nozzle change and additional ballast.

Hi, I own a 2019 215 Wake ID. We surf with it and have created a excel spreadsheet logging our best surf set ups. We found that any sort of wake shaper ruins the wave more than it helps due to the counter steer. We found the biggest waves come with extra Fatsac balast bags. With three guys on the boat we run a 650 triangular bag in the bow, the 800 transom bag on one side designed for yamaha (works well for scarab too) and an additional 750 bag in the center floor. This is in addition to the three built in bags! We shift the center floor bag around depending on rider preference. We still don't nearly get the same size wake as a proper wake boat but it's not bad.
